Heavensware quest - not sharing kills?

My friend and I always party ingame for quests when we're both on. Last night we were killing the Tuaron Commanders to get the pieces of Heavensware. Now he does most the killing as I have low HP but I do help some from my flying sword as well as heal him so he doesn't need HP pots. Normally in quests where we both have to get items from the mobs, when he kills, we both get credit. Last night, he would kill and get the credit but I wouldn't. This is the first time it's happened. When we realized what was going on, I tried to kill a couple to see if I would get credit that way and I did. Unfortunately, a marksman snuck up on me and I died...sigh...b:sad So I'm wondering if this is just an anamoly for this quest or is this going to be the norm from now on. I'm lvl 50 and he's lvl 51. He's gonna leave me in the dust if I have to kill my own mobs for these quests. lol

    firstly a proper answer, it is simply for that quest and I think there are a couple others at some point but not normally.

    Secondly ... you play a game and you are relying basically on your friend to level you every where?

    You ermm ever thought of perhaps playing the game yourself there buck?

    Oh, I level myself. I wouldn't have gotten to lvl 50 without being able to kill on my own. What I meant was that he will most likely level more quickly than I will (hence my "left in the dust" comment) since he is on more to begin with and can kill more quickly without dying like I am prone to do. He can kill mobs that are 3-4 lvls higher than his lvl while on my own, I stick to those that are at my lvl or lower...and still die more than he does. And when it comes to some of the quests, having his help means I get through them more quickly without losing exp to dying.

    And btw, he is my rl bf so partying and helping each other ingame is a given. :) We don't play this game to play alone if we are both on...so yes, I do rely on his help more than if he were just another player ingame. Our chars are well-matched in game and my healing him as he kills makes it go faster, even for him.

    Well then I retract my **** answer ^^ I often play with my rl girlfriend ^^ and I think she would agree with you tha i level faster than her, she is 42 and I am 50 >.< and I havent even played for the last week.

    Not trying to hijack this thread as I feel the question is related; but Is there any truth to the statement that when partying to kill for quests, if you are too far apart from your party and you kill a mob, your party does not get the credit (or vise-versa)? I was partying with someone and he kept asking me not to go too far cause we would not get the credit for each other's kills. Anyone? Thanks in advance.

    Yes, I believe this is true but as to the actual distance you must be within, i don't know. As a general rule, when we're partied, my bf and I try to stay within the circle of the map in the right hand corner. If I wander too far I generally see a "get your butt back over here" type of message. b:laugh

    Yes, I'm the OP. I logged onto forums for the first time to post today and that was the name that came up originally. After I added the avatar, it changed it to the spelling of my main char ingame.

    Ignoring all previous posts because I don't want to read a wall of text...x'DD I'll just put in my input on the quest:

    Either you have to solo it OR if you're in a squad, you must be the last one hitting the mob in order to get the kill. However, it's a VERY rare drop so it might take a long time-- but don't give up! x'DD Hard work will pay off~!

    Yes, it is very true that if you are too far apart you will not get the quest items or experience. I have had to say the same to my girlfriend many times. I am not certain as to the why of a penchant for wandering away from your partner. It has also been a large part of our few deaths. also, here's a thought, as you may have surmised, my RL girlfriend and I also play together and I do not level either of my two mains partnered with her if she is not on. I harvest, craft, buy/sell or play around on alts. Just a thought!

    Girlfriends: Try not to wander so much! Stand by your man!

    Boyfriends: Don't leave your girlfriends in the dust. dirt is not becoming to most women.

    Mix and match as needed for your particular partnership.

    This quest seems to be a solo one. At least from my experience and others. You can be in a party, but I believe the item will go to the person who did the most damage. Other than that, it would probably be simpler to do it solo and have someone heal you if need be.

    no he is right there is something weird with that quest isn't being to far it's last hit

    I teamed up with a archer that was there took me like 15 minutes to get mine and half hour later he only still had 2 so i had to get pet to agro and not fight back while he killed the mob and then he started getting the items took over an hour for him to get his :/

    There are many different ways of playing, and I wouldn't call not killing not playing. Do you call every cleric in every FB not playing, simply because they need to spend 90% of their focus healing rather then attacking?

    Me myself I never relied on any 1 person. More jumped from teaming with whatever blademaster, wizard or archer happened to be in the area. At level 57, I don't have an attack spell above level 1, haven't needed them, and preffer my spirit points going into buffs, heals, and occasionally de-buffs. Quite simply, attacking isn't fun to me, supporting is, and if I'm going to play a game I will not do what isn't fun.

    And yeah in regards to this quest, It is one of the 2 quests in the game up to this level I have found that it will NOT let you team. (2nd one being an oracle quest for bloodlust feligar or something like that)

    Four of us did the same quest last week, it took us all afternoon. Probably took us 2 hours too realise what was going on.
    Random chance of getting the drop in the 1st place, but the person that did the most damage got the drop. My mage can and does deal out alot of damage and i was getting ahead. When one of us finished they would go defensive and just heal or pull or debuff ect. But never attack. Eventually after slaughtering maybe a 1000 of these ugly brutes we all completed the quest. Made some new friends and had a blast.b:victory

    Yes that is true if your too far apart you won't share xp or items, though i think a symbol should pop up warning you that you are too far apart.

    Could just check your map and watch where all the little dots are going. o-o;

    Imo, if you click on their name in squad and their portrait doesn't pop up when you target them, you're too far away. x'DD
