Can't Get in The Game At All

Well hmmm, I've been playing this game for several weeks now and all was fine, until yesterday. Every time I try to start the game I get some kind of weird gibberish error that makes no sense to me at all. I tried to "verfiy" every thing but it wouldn't let me. I uninstalled and deleted everything from my computer and redownloaded it and reinstalled it and dang it, it's still doing the same thing. I have a screen shot but have no idea how to put it in here. Okay cool I figured that part out.

Now, my husband has his own computer and we play together and he's NOT having the problem that I am. And our computers were built identical and set up the same way.

I have tried defragging, scan disk, running my virus scan, it picked up nothing so I'm at a loss here. If anyone can help me I sure would appreciate it. I'm lvl 29 and sure would like to hit 30...soon!

Installing East Asian Language support is one thing that might help. Did you install anything over the last couple days, or encounter any particularly odd crashes or other errors?

Hmm my hubby didn't have to install any language packs and we're in the USA.

Haven't installed anything except PWI in over a month and no crashes all though when trying to play PWI sometimes my screen would just go black but then it would come right back up again. I also some times get another error but it's a Script Error and hubby does get that one some times when trying to load up the start screen. I've tried clicking on both YES and NO options for the Script Error. Until yesterday it would run fine either way. And is still running fine on hubbys end.

Thanks for the quick reply :-) Maybe we'll get this figured out.

For the script error, try to open an Internet Explorer window. Go to Tools, then click Internet Options. You'll want to click the Security tab. Click the checkmark for Trusted Sites, then click the Sites button. You'll need to make sure the box labeled Require Server Verification is unticked, then type or copy-paste http://www.perfectworldinc.com/ into the box labeled "Add This Website to This Zone", and then hit the Add button. Click Close, and then click apply.

I'm not sure if that'll fix it, but it's the only way I've been able to replicate and solve that particular issue.

What Video card you are using?

Because my friend had the simmilar problem with ATI Radeon series, and this error says "No primary video card detected." lol

    Try to fix it:

If you are using ATI Radeon series try to downgrade your drivers. Uninstall newest and download v7.7(Yes it's old):
    http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/previous/radeon/radeonxip-cat77-xp.html

    Download all three thingies.

Next when you have reinstalled drivers, restarted pc and it seems to show windows screen(yeah lol) go to catalyst center, select advanced, hit next,go to smartGart, make AGP speed 4x and hit retest all, apply, restart.

Hope this have solved your problem, still IDK are you using ATI lol.

Okay I will see about getting the language pack installed. Thank you Hurranick for clearing that up.

As far as my Video card goes it's the same one my hubby uses and it was working fine for the past couple of weeks until yesterday and nothing has changed so I can't see how it could possibly be related to my video card. Not to mention every other game I play is still working fine.

I will take care of the Script Error as soon as I can log back into the game. No sense in fixing that if I just end up deleting this cause I can't get it to work anymore.

Any more suggestions?? It just seems really weird that a brand new clean download and install did not fix this problem :-(

    Try to eat your registries:

Download, install, click skip, scan, repair,ok,restart. This SHOULD fix the problem if it's NOT the VIDEO CARD problem.

I would say to try and do a 'very' clean install... meaning deleteing ALL files and deleteing ALL registry entrys for PW, if it does not work after that... then it might be hardware driver/software combatibility issues.

If you choose to do a very clean reinstall... i can guide you through it if possible :)

I am only just downloading PW now... i played the MY version a while back...i wanna play again :)

Well Crude!! I can't install the language pack as I forgot I have Windows XP professional and I don't have the disk for it and of course my old copy of XP Home won't work. So now what?? Am I am just out of luck?

I just can't get over the fact it was fine until 24 hours ago....

A lot of errors, especially some of the tougher ones, can be rather tough to diagnose, and even with similar equipment you might end up with an error in only one computer.

Hmm I did a little research on here to find out if I still had my Nvidea Video card and guess what? NO I don't. Seems the last person I took my computer to, took my video card and replaced it with guess what?? ATI Radeon X550 grrrrrrrrrrrr.

Okay now that we have figured out I DO have that, what in the devil is "Catalyst Center"? And how do I get to it? And why would it work fine up until yesterday? That's what's eating at me and all my other games work fine. And if I do this "rollback" to old drivers, won't that mess up my other games? I'm on the verge of just saying the heck with it. I'm not good with software and programs and really don't want to mess anything else up *sigh*

Catalyst Center is the ATi software control panel. It gives you a lot of extra capabilities in terms of what you can customize, similar to nVidia's Control settings, although I advise against tweaking them too much.

The 7.7 Catalyst Control issue is mostly tied to AGP cards. If you have a PCIe card, I'd work more on the East Asian Language support pack, first (yes, it can actually fix problems).

Catalyst 7.7s can be installed from AMD's official download, although you may need to install the most recent .NET framework and should make sure to uninstall your current drivers (and Catalyst Control). After installing the Catalyst Control Center, check whether you need to install matching display drivers, as well.
