Am I doomed to restat?

I'm a level 33 Elf Archer and I have the following stats (not counting bonuses from weapons and armor):

Vit: 20
Mag: 20
Str: 40
Dex: 100

This is my first character on PWI and I play on the Sanctuary (PvE) server. I only plan on PvE and maybe the occasional TW if I get into a guild doing that.

I have been reading the posts about archer builds and it's obvious I screwed up from the get-go.

So my question is: Are my stats salavgable, or am I doomed to restat? b:question

You will never do the dmg a pure dex archer can do, you have 30 wasted points, that's alot of damage you're losing out on. At your lvl it's not critical, but you should save up for a restat so you can do that at lvl 60+.

Edit: Cut back on the str. Your str should be your lvl +4. You have 3 extra points in it, at lvl 33 you should have 37 str. More you don't need.

My response is given if these are your pure stats without any equip that adds any stat points.

I'd say your build is fine for PvE as long as you don't add any more vit or mag. You've wasted 10-20 points but the build is still usable as is. Just go all dex for 3 levels then do 4dex/1str. Pure isn't the only way to play archer.

Moving some of your mag to dex wouldn't be a bad idea though.

Are you using light armor only or are you mixing in heavy?

For now I have been using all light armor. When I have to solo stuff I typically use winged shell to stay alive. Usually I try to party with others, so I don't have to be the tank. What would be the benefit of mixing in heavy armor? Wouldn't I have to put in a bunch more into str?

I'm not going to add any more into vit or mag now, and will keep my str at lvl+4. The rest I'll put into dex. If I run into serious dmg output problems later on as Nevermore suggested I would, I'll save up my money to move points out of vit and mag into dex.

Was just curious if you were using heavy since you had as much str as you do. Only benefit for mixing it in is to have more pdef if you think you'll be taking hits.

Yeah I started playing my archer not knowing what I was doing, experimenting.

That being said, I think the game is relatively forgiving with where you put your stats up to about lvl 20, so far as you are not completely brain-dead. I don't have a "pure" build, but so far it works for me. Now that I have read the forums and Nevermore's suggestions (thanks, Nevermore!), I have a much better idea going forward.

I also realize I may or may not have to restat depending on how things look at the higher levels. If I do, I'll be sure to have some money set aside to buy stat resets. In the meantime, I'm following Nevermore's advice and not putting anything else in Vit or Mag, leaving Str at lvl+4 and putting the rest into Dex.

As a brief aside, I did find out that at 20 mag an archer loses no MP while flying using their white wings if not in combat. :D

Having 10+ mag seems to cover most distances.

So do you recommend the 1(str) 1(vit) 3(dex) build?
