    I just updated my driver (its ATI, Radeon X300/X550 series) and added that Windows C++ stuff, and i have the language packs downloaded. I even shut down my computer for 30 minutes and came back, and the error message still appears on the screen, in illegible symbols and characters, ill click either yes or no, and it will take me to an extremely dark version of the game where i still cant see characters, read text, or see certain graphics properly. It also follows me off of the game to my desktop, and any other program i use, and it wont go away unless i restart.

    Any more suggestions? I'm getting kind of desperate >~<;

    Yeah, that's pretty clearly not recognizing your graphics card or graphics card drivers properly, which would explain a variety of issues. I'm kinda impressed you've gotten your computer to work at that resolution in the first place.

    Do you know what graphics card your computer uses, or what manufacturer and model it was purchased as?

    Almost every modern computer has a video adapter of some kind, excluding some very dedicated embedded solutions. The issue is more why your computer can not recognize it or the hardware support it has.

    The 82915GM chipset was released in early 2005, so your laptop isn't too old, but it isn't exactly new, either, and this driver issue is of major concern. This driver file should help, although I need to (get some sleep and) figure out why it didn't get installed automatically and why Everest was able to identify it.

    You're probably going to still have sound and performance issues until you get your audio and chipset drivers, too, but we'll need more information to figure those out.

    I'm having the same exact problem, except escalated to a bigger level. I'm using Windows XP and i've already had all eastern language packs installed, but the box still pops up with a bunch of symbols and characters. Clicking either yes or no will start the game, however then the screen goes quite a few shades darker, making it difficult to see characters, graphics, and read text.

    EDIT: okay wait, im starting to think it might not be with the game?
    cause that screenie looks fine ._____.
    but my whole monitor goes really dark, including the desktop.
    im running some anti-virus as we speak. >-<;

    Alright i removed the screenie but listen up.

    Gattsuru typed this in another post, try telling him that:

    (Assuming default directory) Go to C:\Program Files\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International\element\userdata . Open the Systemsettings.ini file. Tell us what the setting for Gamma = is at.
