[GMs Please Read] Credit Card Question

I recently bought zen and, while it was still waiting for verification, logged into Perfect World.

When I logged on, a person named "Sihndra" said that she was a GM and needed to verify my identity with my secret question. I was suspicious, so I logged out.

However, I'm thinking I made a mistake. She was able to automatically pull me back if I walked away and it said "GM says" in the chat window.

Was this person really a GM? In hindsight, I think she was, but it just seemed strange that she'd need to confirm that in-game rather than via PayPal.

    the one and only :)

remember that GMs will always have a huge red GM tag next to their name... if they're whispering you from afar and you have doubts, ask them to show themselves

a GM will never ask for your ID/password, but they WILL sometimes ask your secret question. Again, if you have doubts, ask them to show you the big red GM tag

The policy on GMs is available here. As a general rule, if you're not sure, erring on the side of caution on the matter of account privacy or personal information will only slow down a zen purchase, so it seldom hurts.

It's probably best if you please contact the Support Department regarding this issue.

so yeah, Sihndra is a GM.

here's some other pointers when in-doubt if an actual GM is contacting you in-game.

If a GM is whispering you, the whisper tag will always be labeled as GM.

You can also ask the GM to come to you in person (if he/she is not visible) - that way you can visually verify that the person is a GM as he/she will have a red 'GM' tag next to their character name.

This was indeed a GM. In certain situations, if they are unable to contact you via email or telephone, they will attempt to seek you out in-game to verify certain information in order to validate your purchase. This is part of our fraud prevention. To sure your transaction goes as smoothly as possible, please make sure that your PWI account information matches your billing account information.

Oh, and another thing.. please do not discuss conversations or interactions with GMs on the forums. Best thing to do is send a ticket to http://support.perfectworld.com/ticketing with any concerns you may have.
