First of all, if you are upgrading your flying mount for the first time, you can only upgrade it to the lowest upgrade- so it should only be costing you 20-60 wind widgets. I believe the subsequent upgrades are 80 widgets each.

So you can't just upgrade to the highest speed out of nowhere.

Also, keep in mind that you need to drag and drop your materials for upgrading onto the upgrade window.

    Hope this helps

pack of 10 wind widgets 5 gold

first upgrade 60 wind widgets, 30 gold
second upgrade 80 wind widgets, 40 gold
third upgrade 80 wind widgets, 40 gold

being told this in the coin store so you can make an informed decision, priceless.

However, the first upgrade's price depends on which mount you buy.

You cannot upgrade the free mount you get. Only cash shop ones.

Depending of the speed of the one you have, it goes like this :

    to upgrade to :

    1.00 to 1.50 = 20 widgets

    1.50 to 2.00 = 40 widgests

    2.00 to 2.50 = 60 widgets

    2.50 to 3.00 = 80 widgets.

So, if your cash shop aviatiopn have a basic speed of 2.00 and you want to upgrade to 3.00, you'll need 60 + 80- widgets.

If the basic speed is 1.00 and you want to upgrade to 3.00, you'll need 20+40+60+80 widgets.

Well there goes my hope of upgrading. This is extremely cost prohibitive to all but the richest of people. Who can afford to spend $10 on the level 50 mount plus $20 + $30 + $40 on widgets? It would cost $100 for a fully upgraded flying mount - a ridiculous amount for a virtual item. These upgrades should be lowered significantly. PW-MY offers a very nice mount with +3 base speed for $30 US.

Welcome to the wonderful wolrd of F2P games.

It's the basic principle of all F2P games like this one : you can play for free, but those who put money into the game will gain advantages that other will not get. Faster flying devices is one of those advantages.

If you don't like the fact that players who can afford to put a lot of money/time into the game will always be better equipped than those who cannot, then I suggest you go play a P2P game.

Some games --- whether that's the case for Perfect World I don't know yet, but the thread seems to indicate that it might be the case --- also like to explain cash shop stuff in misleading ways to prompt people into buying it, even if they can't use it.

It seems that the "ripped off customer who doesn't return" is considered a better way of doing business for these games than the "happy customer who only buys what he really wants to, but comes back again later".

I would think that if one were to drop a bunch of RL money into ANYTHING, let alone a video game, that they would do a little research as to how a feature worked before blowing your load, so to speak.

You also can't upgrade a bound flying mount. This is completely ****, I can tranfer upgrade from a bount weapon (transfers the bound status) yet i cant even f***ing upgrade my mount.

There is no logical reason why I should have to save up 120 gold to get 3.0 right off the bat instead of gradually upgrading. -___-

yes same goes for most things on catshop. They so intent upon selling they completely forget or never understood that happy customers come back and buy again. Take the Hyper stones. Nowhere is it suggested that you cant just buy 1 stone like 1 ESO and make use of it. Most people buy 1 stone and then wind up cat shop selling it because ONLY THEN once you have it and try to use it do you find out you've been RIPPED OFF again but YET ANOTHER PWI SCAM.

want another example? Nowhere does it make it clear that a wardrobe stone can only be used for FASHION and not for to store armor or other things WE WEAR and would expect could be stored in a WARDROBE storage (definition in THIS language is a PLACE WHERE CLOTHING AND THINGS WE WEAR is stored). We wear armor but good luck getting PWI to return your 2 gold you waste on a wardrobe stone. Best to Catshop that as well. They love tricking you into buying **** you neither need nor can use but think they did a GOOD thing if they rip you off for 1 dollar and are TOYOTA CLUELESS that they have sacrificed 100 dollars in future sales by being idiots.

Since this was already necroed and I can't see this suggestion, might as well pitch this in - to upgrade aerogear at the forge, the flyer and the widgets must be dragged and dropped onto the window that the NPC brings up.

Actually you're wrong. With Hyper Stones, you can go to your Hyper menu and see exactly what 1-5 stones will give you.

As for the Wardrobe stone, it's for fashion, not armor.

If you had bothered to ask questions instead of making assumptions before spending money, you wouldn't have a single issue, would you?

To summarize the info on the Wind Wigets (some of it conflicting...)

Wind Widgets are only cash shop items (not drops) @90 silver for 10.

Flying mount base spd is capped at 3.0 m/s. (The widget upgrading doesn't add to the base spd if over +3.0).

Does any1 know if the widgets affect the Acceleration Spd as well or is this only an upgrade to bring a low lvl flying mount base spd "up to speed?"

Cost Analysis reveals the Lvl 20 +3.0/+5.0 flying mounts for 30g ($30) to be the best buys at the current widget rates.

    The 5g mount at +1.0 base spd = (20+60+80+80=240*$0.09=$21.60)+$5.00=$26.60 at +3.0
    The 7.5g mount at +1.5 base spd = (60+80+80=220*$0.09=$19.80)+$7.50 = $27.30 at +3.0
    The 10g mounts at +1.5 base spd = (60+80+80=220*$0.09=$19.80)+$10.00=$29.80 at +3.0
    The 17.50g mount at +2.0 base spd = (80+80=160*$0.09=$14.40)+$17.50 = $31.90 at +3.0
    The 25g mounts at +2.5 base spd = (80*$0.09=$7.20) + $25 = $32.20 at + 3.0

All of which makes the Phoenix Embrace wings, Urim's Light blade, and Cloudchase Gryphon beast, the best buys at a flat $30 up front for +3.0 m/s. The Tideborn Wildfire wings are a bargain @25g for +3.0/5.0 and their Spectral Haze wings a nice bonus at +3.2/6.2 for 30g.

Roll up a Tideborn or better yet just keep your lvl 30 freebie flyer and save up for the horse. Max spd on wings is ~8 m/s with the 3.0 cap anyway. The 10g land mounts (Chubbs and Sika Deer) or the horses for 2.5M coin are the cheapest 11 m/s steeds @25g with spurs to get them up to 11 m/s.

Of course, the cheapest way to go is just to accept the 8 m/s steed and ~5.5 flying mount as is. With a 2.5 m/s Acceleration, you'll be able to keep up with the base spd of 25g mounts and 8 m/s on a land mount is only 3 m/s behind a maxed out mount. Most importantly, enjoy your game! Unless your online pals think it's worth $25-$30 to be the fastest, it's not that big a deal. This isn't "gone in 60 seconds."

Yasarelle, it's a nice post, but you're also necroing a thread. If you'd like to put up your analysis of the item, please make a new thread and put it in the Cash Shop Huddle forum.

    Thanks!
