Is it just the translation?

Thing is, most of the "responses" from my char in quests, including the standard "I know", but recently she even said "I'm ignorant" --- it sounds childish/stupid/whatever.

So I'm wondering whether the original korean makes the chars look like **** idiots as well, or whether that's just something they added for the english version?

    its not a big deal.
its a Chinese game and it was translated professionally I think.

having your character say "im ignorant" tapped ur ego a bit?

Not in modern speech, I think. But archaic polite speech is a little like that.

On the other hand, translating it that literally might not have been the best idea, because as pointed out, it sounds rather odd in English.

I never said it was; I was just wondering whether they "added" it for the english version :-)

I just htink it sounds stupid.

IIRC it was with the dragon quest introduction. While the NPC said something "reasonable" (they usually do), she just responded with "I'm ignorant". What she *meant* to say, IMHO, is something like "I didn't know that".

And I've been stumbling across such cases a few times. Just sounds weird, or even ****.

Also, the dialogue often reminds me of a scheme like this: the NPC explains some really bad problem they are having with no one to take care of it (maybe they shouldn't just stand there doing nothing?), and the response reminds me of some little kid that wants to help daddy with his work.

    I do :-)

I even consider it a bug if they place an NPC too close to too many aggro monsters, so you can't read the dialogue since you have to move in, click as fast as possible and move out before you get ****.
