I'm having some serious problems. I'll be playing the game as normal and then all of a suddon the ground will turn black, the trees will look pixalated, walls turn black and a bunch of other stuff.
Here are some pics:

I don't know what is causing this. I tried restarting the game, and still had this problem. I was even having problems seeing the text in the location description in the upper right of the screen and in the chat box in the lower left. There would be most letters, but a lot were still missing.
For instance, I was at Shining Tidewood and it said "Shining idewood".
Please help!

Not sure, but my laptop is only about a year old. It is Vista though. I don't think it's my graphics card, because I'm not having any problems with any other games on my computer at all.0 -
Can anyone else help me please? The problem is getting worse. I highly doubt it's my raphics card, because I'm ONLY have this problem with Perfect World. Not with any other program.0

Does your laptop feel unusually warm to the touch?
My first thought would be to do a Verify from the Launcher. Something's preventing those textures from getting to the screen, so they're either not on the disk, or something's interrupting them at the GPU. A dxdiag would help, too.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Actually, it does get really warm while I'm playing the game. Also, how do I find the dxdiag so I can send it in?0 -
Click on the Start button, then go to Run (or Search if you're using Vista) and type in dxdiag. Click Save All Information to make a text file of the report.==/Senior QA Lead/==

DXDiag
1. In Vista, type dxdiag in the Start menu search bar
2. In other versions of Windows, type dxdiag in the Run command (Start > Run)
3. For Win XP, Start > Run type in dxdiag, press enter. Click on the button at the bottom that says Save all information. Save the file where you can keep track of it, such as the Windows Desktop. Please put your email user name (not the full address) in the name of the dxdiag log file name when you save it.
4. Attach it to the email that you send to tech support.Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

It doesn't *look* like thermal issues, but you may want to check with your laptop's manufacturer to make sure there's not an active recall or driver update on your particular make and model of card. A number of nVidia 8 and 9 series laptop chips had some issues not long ago, and this could be an early warning along those lines. It's very unlikely, so don't panic, but better safe than sorry.
On the dxdiag, you'd want to look for anything on the Display tab that reads Disabled or gives an error message, in addition to sending a copy in.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Well, I just check the website for my computer and they don't even have it listed O_O
What it is is an Acer Aspire 3680 but it goes from 2930 to 4220 on their site. So I'm completely lost.
Another thing that confuses me is that I only have 504MB of Ram, but I've been told that Vista is suppsed to have at least 2GB of Ram to be able to work.
I don't think that would have anything to do with the problem I'm having in-game, but I really don't know...0 -
That actually could have a lot to do with your problem. Vista typically uses 512mb of RAM just for itself, so 1-2gb is typically recommended to be able to use it well. I would strongly recommend upgrading your laptop's memory, not just for PWI but for general use.==/Senior QA Lead/==

*sigh* I was afraid of that...
Do you know how I could go about doing that?0 -
I totally missed that Surtr.
Yeah, Vista is terrible on anything less then 1GB. 2GB at least recommended.
You can get by with 1GB, but being a laptop, no one should have specd out a machine with Vista with such a low amount of RAM.
Just to make sure, can you send us your dxdiag log?

Acer has an updated nVidia driver here, and an updated Intel driver here. Be sure to get only the driver for your system; if you're not sure which you have, check from the Device Manager feature from the Control Panel. Your video card/chip will be listed under Display Adapter.Do you know how I could go about doing that?
You'd want to buy 2 soDIMMs of DDR2 memory rated at at least 533 MHz. That's not too expensive. Page 67 of your manual (81 in the PDF) should have detailed instructions on how to upgrade memory. It's not hard, and it's safe as long as you remove the battery and power cable first. Just be gentle and follow them, and you'll think you have a whole new computer.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Thank you so much gattsuru, you're awesome!
Thank you to the rest of you for all of your help as well, it's greatly appreciated!0 -
Also make sure that you are touching something metal (like the computer case with your elbow or something) when changing out ANYTHING inside of your computer to ground yourself.
Or buy one of the static electricity wristband thingys they have to reduce/eliminate static electricity.
I say this because humans can carry a large enough static charge to fry electronics if discharged right.
Some of us carry more then the average humanDo you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?
