DoTs in PvP?

I think they would be good if you could get enough of them on the target quick enough. In the time it takes you to cast those spells, they could have you half life, even more so if your a mage, considering low physical defense, and hit points. Though if you can pull it off quickly, and than start casting stronger spells. The DOTS will begin to deal massive damage, lets say a few thousand damage every second, not counting your nuke spells.
