Mage vs. Archer

I'm trying to decide whether to start a mage or an archer for PvP. I would fund it with my current character's money, and want a very pure intense build suitable for PvP. Any suggestions on which one and what build? Im looking for overall massive power but low defensive qualities and low HP.

    I saw an archer drop a robe mage in 1 shot before. Might want to keep that in mind if you decided to go mage.

    Archers oneshot mages all the time, and I oneshot archers all the time. Both classes are incredibly squishy, high damage classes.

    Mages are not for inexperienced players. Pure agi archer is a very common and stable build, just find some gear and gems to pump your hp.

    I would not call myself inexperienced when it comes to PvP in any MMO. If I were an archer I would use crossbows, and I'd use patakas as a wizard. I don't know if this narrows the selection down, but I want to be a mass killer.

    Most mages use magic swords. They're easier to get as most HH magic weapons and magic swords.

    he didnt mean inexperienced in general he meant in this game ,,because alot start wizards and quit in the middle out of frustration.basically if you are a pure int robe build you will have the highest magic damage ever (even more than LA mages)but you will go down the fastest too ,,i mean really fast lol ,,basically if you let your guard down and let any archer\warrior get close ,,if they know what they are doing your dead :P so i suggest archer because it has higher defence and better for people that are interested in pvp and its their first time in this game

    lol ive seen lot of wizards pawning every single race, the thing is if u have the good gear (REAL EXPENSIVE), and u dont build a full INT wiz u can give 1 point to hp each 2 lvls, u can easely pvp any race, but be aware, until u get to at least lvl49, wizards are weak and not good for pvp at all, thats why many ppl leave in the middle, but when ur wiz is lvl90, and good gear, u wont be taken down with one hit, and u have the skill that lets u attack faster as an archer or more, and u dont need to charge ur spells thats why they start being good at lvl59. so if u have patience, i personally recommend u a wiz, if u r a starter maybe not as they r hard to lvl, but they are one of the most powerful characters when they hit the high lvls. (also if u like to solo quests, wiz are good for that as well)

    Its a choice between suck now, be better later (wizard) and be better now, and have harder time later (archer). Wizards are oneshot by archers early and midgame but after that they are arguably the best class.
    Started - October-04-2009.
    Class- Winged Elf Cleric.
    Build- Vit. Hybrid.
    Server- Harshlands.
    Kills(PK)- 0.
    Deaths(PK)- 0.

    well~ mage is the most unpopular class in PWI for many reason (i am a mage).
    most people see mage as high damage dealer and glass cannon.

    but think about this, mage can wear same light armor as archer, but double their physical df.

    therefore mage = la x 2 physical df, plus mage can switch to arcane vs psy (if you are rich enough)

    i pvp an archer and he said he hit me like hitting a blade master.
    and dex mage is easily crt on archer or any other classes. which kill them 1 shot easier than archer hit you. because archer has low magic df.

    but in group pvp archer is a lot more useful i agree
