im a brand new player to the mmorpg this game is my first one i want to know is......

.......what is grinding?

    Grinding is just constant killing to gain exp without quests or any thing.

    More of a sliding scale as all game have quests to one degree or another and ways to involve the players in the storyline should they choose to participate.

    But, Grinding is used to describe the time you spend doing nothing but hunting mobs(enemies) at or slightly above/below your level for Experience points (or sometime items required by a quest or for crafting)

    That's a question that depends on who you ask.

    Most players here use the phrase to describe killing boatloads of similar enemies for experience or non-quest items. You generally don't get forced to do that within this game, at least within the first fourty levels.

    Other people, such as Ben Croshaw of Zero Punctuation, use the term to describe any time where you kill a lot of similar monsters in order to get access to more powerful abilities in an MMORPG. I'm not quite sure exactly how this is different from, say, killing a boatload of similar clones in order to get to the bigger guns of F.E.A.R, but it's a term used often. That's rather unavoidable in any MMO.
