THEN I get on yesterday and its still on so i turned it off but nothin changes. My PC's in permanent best performance mode. I have no laggin problems ever but i cant see anyone.

The only thing Best Performance does is set all your graphical setting except resolution to the lowest setting, and draws less players on screen to conserve framerate speed. If you turn off Best Performance and don't notice a change, hit the hammer+pick icon on the bottom right and then the center icon that looks like a PC to open the options, and alter the graphics/player details shown from there.

Also, the distance from your router isn't going to make the game perform worse graphically, you just may have actual internet latency so the time between pressing buttons and seeing an action result is going to be longer, you may stutter around, see other players/npcs warp around, etc. Generally with G/N routers, it's in a performance "bubble", so anywhere from being right next to the router to being at the maximum distance for great signal will give the same latency, and then past that maximum performance distance it will curve off in quality. The Best Performance button, in the case of network lag, does next to nothing.

It took me a while to figure out that if I turn that feature on, then log out while it's still on, when I log back in the settings get kinda fudged up.

In the bottom right corner, click your Settings icon (looks like a computer). When the window opens with the options, at the top of the window are several "tabs" to choose from.

Starting with the one on the top left, this one allows you to adjust distance settings for backgrounds, water resolutions, special effects, etc. by using sliding adjustment bars.

This covers most, but not all of the settings that get changed by using the "best performance" button. The second tab from the left has a couple important features that need to be readjusted.

One is for player customization. If this box is un-checked, everyone you see will be viewed as "default" customization (ie...everyone will look the same). Checking this box will allow characters to be viewed as they were designed by the players.

Also, there is another slider bar just below that box concerning vison distance. This get reduced to almost nothing with "best performance" and affects how far away you can see other players. Increase that to "see" people again.

One thing I did notice, make sure when you get done making changes in each tab, make sure you apply those changes before going to the next tab. It always seems to only apply the changes to the tab that is active when I hit confirm.

    Hope this helps!
