Installation problem

I have serious problem with installing Perfect World. On the first sight nothing happens when i start installing the game (nothing means nothing - there is no extraction program dialog, no errors or warnings, no process in task manager). But all my free space on system partition goes away. I cant say why - its impossible for me to locate game files or any other incorrectness in system partition.

I tried to install the game on Vista Home Basic, 768MB RAM, Core Duo 1.7GHz, Graphic Card with 256MB memory and of course on the beginning more than 2,5GB free space.

I would like to know what can i do to get back my free space. Also if can I install the game without risk of losing it one more time.

I'm foreigner, so sorry for any language mistakes.

In advance thanks for ur help.

A couple friends of mine had that problem too. They fixed it by switching the Firewall off. Hope that helps and welcome to PW. b:victory

    Similar to which programs?
I tried also without antivirus program, there are processes as java updater, total commander, task manager and a few more, but i cant imagine they can mess up with installation.

try to find the files by going to "my documents" and click on the downloads folder, thats where mine was. also have you tried running the installer as administraitor?

I checked it already. I've checked all folders but Windows. I've found files larger than 25MB and realized that there are no files which look like PW files (of course excluding installer ;))
also have you tried running the installer as administraitor?
    Of course.

Thank you all for replying :)

Thank you for submitting a ticket to tech support; we are currently looking into your issue.

On an unrelated note, 768mb of RAM will probably not be sufficient to run Perfect World under Vista. The OS itself takes up approximately 512mb of RAM, leaving only 256 for the game. Less if anything else is running at all (including anti-virus software, web browsers, etc.). I would strongly recommend upgrading to 1gb of RAM at the very least (1.5 - 2gb would be best) if you are able.

    1. My computer meet requirements for sure ;)

    2. I have dx10 and i've updated recently (about week ago) graphic card drivers.

    3. I've downloaded torrent file (dont know if its essential ;))

    4. When i try to run the installer (or downloader ;)) there is prompt "The publisher could not be valid...", im clicking Run of course and... nothing happens (but "eating" my disc space :P) My documents/Download seem to be empty on each profile (or i just dont see game files - but i see hidden and system files), cause there are no dialog to extract files. But there is no free space one more time.

I'm always experiencing some weird things 0_o. I think i should get used to it.

Games with minimal requirement of 256MB RAM are going well (not perfect of course), so i thought it will be all right. But thanks for the information ;)

No, there is no such programmes running. Nor firewall, nor other games, only total commander or explorer, task manager and such things as apache and mysql (plus essential processes for system of course)

In a week or two im upgrading it for sure. But insufficient ram memory shouldnt cause that sort of problem, should it?

    Thank you very much :)

This does not sound like a problem caused by insufficient memory, no. It was just something I noticed that might be an issue further down the line. But if you're upgrading soon you should be good.

As far as your issue goes, have you tried disabling User Account Control?

    1. Launch MSCONFIG via the Run menu.
    2. Click on the Tools tab. Scroll down till you find Disable UAC. Click on that line.
    3. Press the Launch button.
    4. A CMD window will open. When the command is done, you can close the window.
    5. Close MSCONFIG. You will need to reboot the computer for changes to apply.

You can re-enable UAC by selecting the Enable UAC line and then clicking on the Launch button.
