Action Bars and Keybindings

Ok, I searched the forums for information but didn't find any. While my hopes are probably a long shot, I have to ask anyway just in case.

I notice that we have our main action bar with 6 slots, and our function bar with 8 slots. But this generally isn't enough for me and while I thought it would be in Perfect World, playing a wizard has made me feel otherwise. My main question was: is there a way to increase your action bar space beyond that of what is readily available? I'm only level 20 and already feel like I am running out of space.

To give you an idea of what I am used to, my main in WoW was a warlock, and I used the addon Trinity Bars for my action bars. I had a total of 4 bars:

1-0
alt + 1-0
ctrl + 1-0

and then my auxilary bar which consisted of my numpad for buffs/mounts and the "F" key for readily available items (such as the item used for the current daily quest).

Now I can already tell that I most likely will not need 4 action bars for PW like I needed in WoW, but being level 20 and already feeling constricted on space is starting to bother me. I was just wondering is there a secret UI element that I am missing that allows increased action bar space, is this a planned addition, or am I just SOL?

Like I said, I searched the forums and didn't find any info on it, so I thought I would bring the question up for myself and for anyone else who was also curious about the matter. Just a note: adequette action bar space is one of the most important aspect of an MMO for me.

Yeah, it's annoying. I even have to use keys that I never used in any MMO"RP"G to date, just because the stupid F-key bar only goes to F8 (so my usual pickup/sit/heal stuff at F9-F12 isn't there), and having to switch between F-keys and digit keys is confusing things (I end up changing into fox or sitting down in the middle of a fight, or starting a fight with the pickup key because my hand happens to be on the wrong set of keys.

Oh well... extra points for the most flexible hotkey management in MMO"RP"G history, I guess.

yeah Kebinds and Actionbar space is really a pain in the a** atm. But since there is no Mod/Addon interface i guess it'll always be a like this.

Or maybe anyone knows about addons etc for the MY version of PW?

You can extend each action bar up to 3 rows, but unfortunately those won't be hotkeyed and you'll have to manually click the skills in them. You can switch through the number-series and f-series hotkey rows with ` and tab respectively (as in, if the first row in the hotkey bar were skills A and B linked to hotkeys F1 and F2, and the row above had skills C and D, hitting tab will cycle it through and link skills C and D to hotkeys F1 and F2), but I find that feature annoying if I accidentally hit one of those and switch through a hotkey bar without me realizing it, so I disabled it.

I don't believe there are addons, but it might be possible to write a macro of sorts wherein if you press and hold shift, for example, you automatically hit tab once to get to the next bar, and as soon as you depress it it'll hit tab twice to cycle back to the first row, kinda allowing you to have ghetto hotkeys.

EDIT: OH YEAH YOU PROBABLY SHOULDN'T WRITE SOMETHING LIKE THIS BECAUSE IT'D VIOLATE TOS, ETC. ETC. EVEN THOUGH THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO CATCH YOU.

You know, you don't NEED every skill you get on your bar.

I find most people only commonly use 3-4 skills, then there are 5-6 situational skills, then you have a few actions.

Plenty of space imo compared to WoW where there might be 20 skills you use regularly in pvp.

Yeah, PvP had a lot of skills, but PvE blew that away (hence why I needed 4 action bars lol)

I am quickly noticing that I do fall into a routine of just a few spells in PW, but it's just the idea of being limited that bothers me. Maybe this is just a tremor of the frustrations that arose from such a small inventory size.

I may just be an archer, but I have plenty of skills, enough now to fill out the bars and have some extra. What I tend to do is place skills I don't use often (buffs, meditate) and skills using chi (especially spark) on an extended click-only bar, and then the quick-cast and necessary stuff (pots, flying) on the shortcut keys. I end up not using all of the quick-casts in battle anyway, and I have a few macros that are chains of common opening/finishing cast sequences (like my button to cast all DoT spells I have) in the shortcut keys instead. I find most of the time I'm using my macro sets or an occasional freeze/stun shot.

yeah, each of those bar things has two additional bars that you can use.
if you hit shift it will shift to the action bar above it
for example, I am a venomancer
I have my human side skills on one bar
    I hit shift
and it pulls up my hotkeyed fox skills
i hit shift again and it brings up 8 other various skills i use

now the smaller bar, the one with 6 can be worked just the same
except you have to hit the ~ button

you can actually have 2 bars up of each bar dears, both the number and F1-9 as well.

to the right, the little "book" symbol between the up arrow and the MOVE icon on each bar will cause the bar above it to show and you can select it with the mouse. i run with this configuration and i am able to display all my controls for my veno. I moved the pet bar above it and have a game controller that emulates keyboard commands for selections.

I used to have pots on my quick key bars, but they have been moved up to the extended bars due to more important abilities needing the quick keys.

I'm adjusting to clicking on the extra bars, but it was just awkward for me at first. I played WoW way too long I guess, a game where clicking instead of hotkeying usually meant your death.

I just wish there was a way to utilize alt and ctrl for hotkeys, but oh well. You live and learn.

For future references (mod, feel free to split this into a separate thread), here is the current hotkey layout as of the latest patch (game version 166) at the time of writing:

Number keys 1-9 = hotkey skills you place on the longer skill panel
`/~ key = rotate the number hotkey panel to the next toggle-activated ("enabled") panel

Function keys F1-F8 = hotkey skills you place on the shorter skill bar
Tab key = rotate the function hotkey panel to the next toggle-activated ("enabled") panel

Alt+1 = Pet's default attack skill (skill with a yellow box around it), for venomancers only
Alt+2/Alt+3/Alt+4/Alt+5 = Pet's first, second, third and fourth skill respectively (i.e. Alt+3 is manual triggering of the venomancer's pet's second skill on the pet's skill panel)

Shift+F1/Shift+F2/Shift+F3/Shift+F4/etc = Genie's first, second, third, and so on skills (i.e. Shift+F1 = first genie skill on the genie's skill panel)

Holding Ctrl in combination with the number keys and function keys does not modify anything as far as I've tested. Pressing Ctrl+F1 is the same as F1 and Ctrl+Shift+1 is the same as Shift+1. Holding Shift in combination with the number keys also does not seem to have any effect.

On a side note, Alt+F4 minimizes the game to Window's Taskbar (bottom right corner). Alt+F1/Alt+F2/Alt+F3/Alt+F5/etc. do not seem to have any in-game affects/command.

This is all just from experimentation, of course, and is by no means official or confirmed as there is no guide concerning hotkeys on the PWI website as far as I know.
