My suggestions, requests, and kudos about PeW

I have been playing Perfect World for about a week now, and I must say I love it! That being said, I have a few things I think should be addressed in future updates, or just random ideas, all of which I will list below in no particular order. These are by no means bugs or problems, merely my opinions on the game.
-Vista support (including x64 and without needing workarounds). I had to switch to my Older PC for this game, as my new one is Vista x64 Ultimate. I tried every solution I could find for my PC, but nothing worked. However the PC that DOES work is XP x64, so I think the only issues must be something with the permissions and stuff on Vista. Anyways, I feel that working on Vista is very important and should be high on the list of fixes. (Even if Vista is bad, it IS getting better and is getting more widely used)
-In water camera and controls. I find that the camera snapping to above or below the water when you get low enough can be quite annoying. I imagine it was done as half in/half out situations did not render correctly or something, but I'd be happy having that problem. Also I think the controls should be more like running underwater, as left and right, I expect to strafe me underwater, but instead they do a slow turn and it cannot be changed (that I know of)
-Gender independent Carrying. Some people are debating on wether this is a good idea or not, but at the very least winged elf guys should be able to carry non flying guys. It sucks when you are playing with your friends, all guys, and they can't help you do something that they could if you were a chick. Heck, call it Carry instead of embrace if people have too much of an issue with it. Or even add an option on a per player basis to allow or deny it.
-Riding wolf pet's name is misleading. I got this pet, at lvl 9 and thought I could ride it as it said requisite, lvl 9 and had riding in it's name.
-Fire damage. Its fun to land on a torch in city of the lost and meditate there.. but in all truth it should hurt you. Falling should too, but the insane jumping is one of the reasons I like this game so much, as I like to explore. Maybe a small bit of falling damage.. but not enough to make it matter
-Music. I love the music that this game has kudos on that. But you do wind up hearing the same 3 or 4 songs all the time. Maybe it could even be set up to allow the game to play MP3s from a specified folder on the player's hard drive.
-Offline friend requests. It's very annoying with many characters to try to get every one of your friends characters added to each of your character's friends list. Mostly because they can only be signed on as one character at a time, and if they aren't online, you cannot add them. There is obviously a server that has a list of all active characters in some fashion. I think you should be able to add people when they are offline, and when they sign on they will get the request messages. This would stop you having to log on and off as all of your characters just so someone can add you to their friends (on all of their characters).
-Height modifications. That is the main thing I miss in the character editor (which facially wise is better than any I have seen so far) but everyone is the same height, no matter what.
-Modifications for the Male Untamed. There is much more that could be done on customizing their faces in the editor.
-Modifications forever. When I first started, I saw that after I created my character I could still modify them, which I thought rocked! Then two days later, I decided to slightly change my character's hair color, and I couldn't modify it any more . I think if you are going to have the option to modify, you should keep it. Apparently you can do this in game with the cosmeticians and whatnot, but I don't know how, and it seems odd to have to do it that way. Maybe after you create a character you can still click the modify button, but if you change something it costs 2k or something (maybe make it cost more the longer it's been since you created them.
-SOME higher res textures. Most of the textures in Perfect World look great, but there are a few terrain textures that could use an uprez. Just saying. :P
-Distance Draw level 5 should be an in game option.
-I love the water so much... kudos.
Oh, and my friend says normal maps for everything! (he's kidding :P)
By the way, I propose PeW be the new abbreviation for Perfect World... because it's fun to say

blablabla you re posting in wrong place...
*a female carrying a male isnt naturel, evrybodys knows that females re weak haha..
By the way i totaly agree with your textures stuff0 -
Regarding Vista, I currently play on a Vista 64 Ultimate rig with little to no issues. I did a clean build on a new hard drive just last week with no issues at all, playing the game @ 1900x1080 in windowed mode (I multitask a lot). Aside from minor issues such as not being able to leave the game and vend overnight (game crashes, I can vend on my XP laptop forever), I haven't had any issues that prevented me from playing.
Perhaps it may be driver issues, as upgrading to the latest official drivers from vendors' websites worked out any problems I encountered the very first time I downloaded the game. This includes motherboard, chipsets, gfx, lan, sound, monitor, mouse, keyboard -- everything!
I've had my system lock up on me twice so far while playing, but I reckon it's due to my system being overclocked to it's very limits (cpu was oc'ed from 1.6ghz to 3.2ghz). I toned down the overclock to 3.05 and hasn't froze on me yet.0 -
I agree with most of the statements said here, especially the character customization one.
In addition to Wacomalts request, I have a few to add of my own.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
1. ) Games! - Have games or competitions that players can play when they get tired of leveling up. Some suggestions for these would be....Tag! I think a game of Tag in PeW would be very interesting, as well as enjoyable for players of any level. Another would be Racing, obstacle courses, and Hunts(whoever can complete this quest the fastest wins etc.) This would add a completely new dynamic to the game, and may make it appealing to broader audiences.
2.) Group Specific Quests - Get your friends and work together to achieve the ultimate goal! Having this I believe would really bring players together, as well as help people branch out and meet new people, thus connecting the community of Pew in an entirely new way. Something that could make this even more interesting is having quests for example that is level 50, but in order to complete it you need at least one lvl 10 in your group. That way we can break the age barrier and make all levels feel more important/self sufficient.
3.) Quest Help Items - Items that can be given by the npc to achieve the quest. Example would be maybe a Scythe equipable by all to chop down a specific plant, or a skull to threaten a certain npc by wearing it on your head. I think this could make quest more dynamic, or at least seem that way.
4.) Friendly Monsters! - Have some monsters that are friendly to specific races/classes, and everyone in general. This makes for even more dynamic quests, where you have to protect a certain monster, or heal a certain amount in order to complete it. This can also be fun when fighting near them and they heal you, or when you give them a certain item they can cast protection magic, or help you in other ways etc.
5.) Fun with transportation! - You have made transportation very fun as it is, but I think some other methods might fuel the fun as well. Jump ports! Send players flying in a specific direction just by jumping on the jump ports! Make traveling faster with temporary speed shoes! Rent a bird/dragon/fish to travel much faster or much more protected than you would normally. Boat/Whale travel would be very fun as well, as well as digging animals like moles and things. (Little far fetched, but I thought I'd throw it out there.)
6.) Underwater Cities/Caves - The water in this game is amazing, and I think if you added a little exploration to it, it might make it that much more! Examples of this would be a cave, or tunnel that is completely underwater! Swimming raids seem like they would be very awesome. You might want to make pets breath underwater for this (though I know this involves more animation for pets, like swimming, I think it would be well worth it!)
7.) Combat Specifics - Limit Breaks!! (Mental Break, Status Lock, Over Clock, whatever you want to call it) I think that having this concept in the game would add to combat as a whole, and will allow players more strategy when fighting. You could even make this something completely not pertaining to fighting for specific classes. Example being the cleric's limit break could give the entire party wings/flying ability for a certain amount of time. Another aspect to this is Pets that don't attack, but heal you while you fight.
8.) Home Farm - We all love games like Harvest Moon, and Animal Crossing, but what about these games can we incorporate into PeW? Farming! I'd love to plant some Healing herbs right before I go battle, knowing in an hour or two I could come back to some healing items! Also making some plants that grow into armor or weapons, but take 3 days or so to grow. Giving players something to look forward to, while maintaining that sense of progression that we strive for while playing MMOs. Pre-planning and Micro-managing is something that PeW could really benefit from.

Things that I believe should be in PeW that other games have made successful!
Travel Experience - Allow players an incentive to travel the vast and beautiful map that this game provides!
Hail "Fellow Traveler" - This is something I used to enjoy in everquest, that few games take advantage of nowadays. This handy feature allowed players to target something, hit the 'H' key, and instantly say its name in the chat window(" Hail, (The Target Selected)"). This was very useful when trying to communicate to your team what monster you plan on attacking, or when needing to bring attention to a fellow npc or pc. This could add allot of cohesion and cooperation to PeW, and would make it a much easier and enjoyable experience.

Graphically this game is Genous! But, a few things here and there could make this game really dazzle!
Bloom Effects - Your soften effect is awesome, but if you could program a bloom effect similar to the bloom in unreal 3 engine, it would really make PeW sparkle.
Refracting Waterfalls - The effect of refractions on the bodies of water in PeW is truly stunning, but with this effect implemented into the waterfalls as well, I believe you could make the really graphically impressive environments, even more impressive!
Texture Swap/Increased Mip Mapping - The only eyesore I've notice recently while playing PeW is some of the repeating textures seen from the air. Something that Might help this is a draw distance with an even lower resolution texture that has the same feel, but is much more blurry. Something definitely to try out, though the textures by themselves are great looking, they just aren't from a distance..
Specular Map - I noticed this game uses some nice looking specular maps in the game, but I think that a little more stress could be put on some of the creatures in the game, as well as npcs.
Bump/Normal - I realize this is very hard to integrate, but possibly sometime in the distant future you could implement normal and bump mapping technology into the game. It would really make this game gorgeous. An example of extreme normal mapping is in Gears of War. I cant even begin to stress how amazing this would make the game look, but is just a suggestion.
Floating Particles - Maybe something to experiment with, but it would be lovely to see some fireflies and things of that nature floating around. Kind of like in Everquest, or Zelda the Windwaker.0 -
-Modifications forever. When I first started, I saw that after I created my character I could still modify them, which I thought rocked! Then two days later, I decided to slightly change my character's hair color, and I couldn't modify it any more . I think if you are going to have the option to modify, you should keep it. After the timeout on the "free makeovers" the makeover scroll is a cash shop item. Some players might be selling them in game though, so check the auction house and player stalls. You do get a free one around lvl 30 from a quest. You take it to an NPC and use it to edit the character.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
I have every single driver on my computer up to date (as of yesterday) and even tried a frtesh install of PW with data verification and everything, still to no avail. I am on a HP Pavilion tx2500z Laptop, which has dual core Turion chips. (I think... :P) I have heard this is a newer architecture, sop maybe that si what's causing issues. That or the ATI HD 3200 is shared video memory, could that be an issue? I also have user account control turned off, and also set the game to only use 1 core, also did nto work
I did not know about how the makeover scrolls were used. This is something that could be added to the manual (if one ever exists)
Twilitneo has some good ideas on graphical improvements, though this game is already twice what I'd expect from a free game. I happen to know twilitneo in person, and I think he would be more than happy to contribute to the game's development especially graphically. (he is an amazing CG/Real artist)
The refracting waterfall idea would rock,a nd I also like the fireflies idea. all of these technologies are already in the game in some form (floating particles under the water) so it would likely be the most feasable.0 -
Saw underwater suggestions: so heres a good past one that was made
