A little Petite Sawfly capture tip. :)

Hello folks. :) First post here in the forums.

Anyway, i found a pretty easy way to capture a Lvl 9 (I think?) Sawfly for you higher level
veno's who need to train a flying pet to accompany your Golem.

Note this is for CASTER build venos and ones at a HIGHER level. I'm lvl 29 as i write this
(yes, the little bee needs lots o' TLC and training ), Anyway... on with the good stuff.

First while in City of the plume (you need to go here to get your bee) stop by the blacksmith,
pick up a lvl 1 BOW and a few lvl 1 arrows. If you are doing a proper caster build, the lvl 1 bow is all you can equip anyway.

Once you have your bow and arrow go to 390, 347 (Coord assistant FTW!), this is a bit southeast of Bamboo village, elf city remember. :-).

Once there you should see a watchtower like structure, practice jumping and landing on the fence of the structure. Try climbing as high as you can on that thing, this will help you get in range of your target, if you are lucky the little guy will be kind of low and within bow range, if he is, then we can continue!

Fire 1 or more shots to draw the bee close. Once it's in range and hitting you, UNEQUIP your bow! Very important! If you are lvl 15+ you should be able to tank the lil' guy. So no worries there. If you are concerned about 'squishing' against it, even at lvl 15, take a couple potions with you.

The bee will come up into Melee range, now that you have your bow unequipped start punching the bee until it's at oh, say 1/2 to 1/4 HP then stop attacking, you can tap W, A, S, or D to stop your attack. Cast the tame skill, and if all goes well you've got yourself a new pet to train (that, i still have to do lol)

I know this little guide is kind of a mess, but as stated, it is late here and i need sleep. :P Also may not be anything 'new and fancy', but figured i'd post it in case someone found it useful. :)

Good luck and have fun everyone, time to train meself a sawfly. :D

Quick P.S. to some who will no doubt read this guide! Yes, i could have waited until 30 and just flown up to it, blah blah. But first off, i wanted to do something a bit different (lol), and, this guide was written for people below 30 as well, say someone at lvl 15 who wants to get an earlier start on their sawfly.. I wish i had done this around lvl 15 so my bee would be closer to my lvl..

Oh well, gives me something else to work with in game. :-)

MysticFox, lvl 29 Venomancer, Heaven's tear.

Lol I can catch flies at level 8, a level after we get Tame. Trade secret. You may be able to find my methods floating around the forums though.

Oh, and anybbody can equip a measely level 1 bow, why say casters only? That's incorrect, sorry.

The idea was, level 1 bow is the only ranged weapon which veno can wield, if she follows correct caster's build. Because better bows need some points in AGI, which "proper" caster can't allow to herself ;)

I captured my first sawfly without a bow at a low level already. Only problem is that those sawfly eggs are kind of flooding the market. :P

Why buy a bow at all? Many fly low enough for you to simply cast. I captured several at lvl 8. I guess they are difficult for some, however.

Yeah, just capture your first one by casting a spell on it and then you can use that one to capture more.

I guess some of us just don't have luck.

When I found another thread, I decided to get one. So I checked the database site for locations --- no result, although at the time I didn't know to look in the sky (is there a way to move the camera without changing movement direction?). Then I found a thread that said "in the sky just north of bamboo village". Eventually found 2 there, but couldn't do anything. Then I found this thread, went back to town, bought the bow, went back to the tower --- still no change. In fact, the spell says "20.1 meters", the bow says "20 meters" --- I just didn't know whether there might be an air/ground issue. Spell wouldn't help snce I'd hopefully 1-shot it, but still... trying to figure out what to do.

When I came back this morning, no fly anywhere near that watchtower. Waited for a bit, but whereever it is now nobody seems to be killing it...

I guess I'll come back when I'm 30 :-) Scouting a large area based on the database locations has been an epic waste of time already.

If I read all this correctly, those things are meant to be cought while flying...

They are indeed around bamboo village, but not north as you say but south south-east (as the OP states).

There's also a small stone that will get you close enough if you stand on it. ;)

I found a different way to get a sawfly quite by accident. I was about lvl 12 at the time.
I went to where they were but couldn't stand on a mountain to get a shot at one.
An Elf came by and I asked him to help me. We tried a few things and decided to party. He attacked the saw fly and drew it to me where I damaged it more then used my tame pet skill.
It worked!! I was able to hatch the egg and have my flying pet.
I guess if I had the gold I could just buy one from a private shop but to get my own at such a low level was much more satisfying.

I was level 20/23 or when I caught my petite sawfly
There are some low flying ones and I could one shot them. So I took off my magic weapon and shot it once, hit it a few times with attack and then tamed it. So It is doable when your magic spell is in the range of 20 m or so. It's south of bamboo village and look up.
    Good luck!

After you get one sawfly tamed you can use it to pull a sawfly to you (target the sawfly and tell your already tamed pet to attack, then tell him to follow.) Now stow him/her when they get near and tame the new one you've pulled.

There is actually another location where you can just walk up the hill and practically touch one. I think it's more like 360 315 area.

Yes, this worked just fine for me. And, if you hit too hard with your magic attack, you can put away your weapon and rings and maybe use a different attack?

However... I believe level 1 bows require 6 dexterity? If you do not have any +dexterity ornaments, and you want a bow, you might do better with a level 0 bow (which you can get by creating an archer).

I think some genie skills might also work, if you want to be pulling flys down?

Or, you know, find a low level elf and say "hi! if you can help me catch a fly, I will give you a thousand coins!" and then explain how you need them to lure the fly near you.

i found a way of taming one of these which i think is probably the easiest.
    what i did was....

jump up in the air as high as i could get
then use my genies venom stinger skill while im at my highest point
then it comes down to you and you can tame it ^^
