So yes, I have Vista x64 ultimate (gasp!) I know... shame on me. But for the apps I use (3d animation and video editing) the 64 bit is great, as these programs actually support it fully.

As you can read above, The patcher loads fine, but I cannot change some of the game settings in it (like the windowed resolution, so I have to go full screen) The game files have been verified, and I hit Start, the elementclient.exe process show up in the task manager, but no window opens or anything, and eventually that process dissappears, quickly followed by the patcher window.

I have tried:

compaibility mode for XP SP2,
Run as administrator (does this by default anyways)
disabling UAC,
setting the processor affinity to only one core,

and I still have had absolutely no change in behavior.

any ideas? Please help!

I really doubt it will work at all as Vista is not even supported yet, let alone the 64-bit Vista. I'm running 32-bit Vista myself and it works ok except for the fact that I cannot patch automatically.

    Stop posting ignorant lies.

I'm using Vista 64 SP1 and I've never had problems running ANYTHING, and that includes PW.
You don't have to use compatibility mode either.
Use the real administrator account, disable uac. If it still doesn't work, /quit life because you seriously jacked something up.

I'm on Vista 64 Ultimate also, but haven't had any major issues. In fact, I just rebuilt my system on a larger drive.

I would say make sure you have the latest official drivers installed, especially chipset and gfx. I've disabled UAC from the start, so I'm not sure if that would be a potential issue.

Usually when I run into patching issues, I just exit the patch client and restart it. It takes a couple times, but it eventually gets there. You may want to uninstall/reinstall, clean out your registry and then reinstall just to cover all your bases.

Lies? Ask DarthPanda if Vista is supported yet, let alone Vista 64-bit. It's not officially supported. Granted, most things DO work with Vista. The point was, it's not officially supported, so don't expect much help.

It is not officially supported per se, but we do make every effort to try and address all Windows user's issues.

64bit Vista with 64bit hardware is like having a high-end sports car on a go-kart track. My personal opinions. The sports car is the hardware, and Vista is the go-kart track.

There are still too many incompatibilities with Vista 64 and drivers for everything. Stability is one issue, of thousands.

There are people are running 64bit Vista and PWI fine.

Some suggestions I can offer are:

Change the Affinity for your CPUs (for multi-core CPUs) to only have one CPU running the game through Task Manager. you may have to do this every time you start the game if you can't set it up to only run on one CPU in the manufacturer's driver software

Go to your CPU vendor's website and see if they have an optimizer for running 32bit apps and games better.

Run the game as a super user account (Administrator).

    Disable UAC.

PC gaming is its own world for a reason ;)
Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

Well many people have it working on my exact operating system (Vista Ultimate x64) so I wonder if it might be my video card setup? In the settings are of the launcher it says 0mb next to my card. The card is onboard, but it is VERY good for onboard. I can run Unreal3 with almost full settings, and I have Direct X 10 installed. It has 320mb of the shared memory devoted to video, and up to 2048mb gets used when needed.

anyways, my card is an ATI HD3200 and the laptop is a HP tx2500z. Dual Turion 2.6ghz Processor, 4gb ram. ALL newest drivers (as of yesterday). Is there any way to get the game too see my card correctly?

It was doing the same for me. Soon as i press start, the element client box with flash and that was it.

There may be something with perfect world about 3rd party programs.
because it would run if i have another game program running.

Ctrl+ alt + delete open task manager and close other applications then run perfect world.

I had "D3D Overrider" to improve my performance on online games.
When i closed it, everything runs fine, then when i'm playing I enable it and then it still works.

It just doesn't try when another program is up first.

    Hope that helps.
