Are you sure it wasn't an enhanced monster? Like attack up?0
-
Or were you attacking one of the dungeon monsters that sits outside the dungeon entrance? Those are much harder than normal mobs.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0
-
Don't worry, it doesn't make you any less of a man.0
-
Sounds like an elite mob to me, an easy way to tell is the border around the monster name, if it is an fancy and has wing type line things coming off the left and right then its an elite and has about 3 times the HP.0

hm yeah it was just outside the cave of the viscious but i dident notice any wings, special borders or any stat boosters like increased attack or anything0
-
I'm agreeing with you. I was on yesterday and was fighting monsters that were a few levels under me and kept dying.0

Well not eaven 60+ can kill these mobs in 1 shot.....they are hard cose they r meant to be killd in party not solo, and yes some mobs do have increased things so watch out for those, specily for sacrificial attack, its 4x more dmg then normalElysium Guild "Let the fun begin"

No damage increase, /fail for dying to low level mobs.0

I can confirm that lithic scorpions (lvl 19) are indeed elite monsters and that is why it was able to kill you.0

So inside the Cave of the Vicious....The Fierce Monter quest...Are we supposed to use the Call of Duty token or what. Because I keep going inside with my husband....and we both keep dying.....mind you it will say we were killed by such and such...when that particular creature wasn't even attacking us.
We've tried taking on the Cactopod together first...then the scorpion...but we can't even get passed them to get to the Stone Undine.
Just now it had said I was killed by the Undine...yet I wasn't even being attacked by it. The Stone Undine was no where near me. I was fighting the Cactopod....while my husband fought the scorpion.
And what is with the NPC in there who speaks of the wine...does he have something to do with this quest as well? I mean are we supposed to get him this wine or something to get further in the quest? We can't even get near the Stone Undine to even try and fight them. And if so...where or how do we get this wine?0 -
Anira,
That cave and the quests within are part of what you may have heard called "FB19" and would be impossible for you and your husband at level 23-24. All three of those mobs are usually "attached" to one another and all will attack. My girlfriend and I were unable to duo those grouped elites until 27 or 28 and the boss until around 30-32 with our archer and cleric team. It is basically designed to be done with a full squad. You can also often find higher level teams that offer to run you through your FB quests quickly as long as you have your "call to duty" tab. Just make sure they allow you to keep the boss drops before going in.
The wine is optional. If you bring that NPC the requested wine, he will kill nearly all of the mobs in the cave for you, leaving only a few stragglers and the main boss at the end. It is very nice if you have already killed the required number of Undines and only need the boss. The quest to get the wine can be obtained from the NPC called "Mister Tso" in Archosaur. If heading in through the West Gate, he is just to the left of the crossroads (528, 656).0 -
Yeah surviving in an any of the instanced dungeons (IE any cave that has big swirly things at the entrance, generally involves a full team of 6, and to have at least one of these 3 classes (you can only have a prayer in hell of surviving with less, IF someone in your team is more then 15 levels above the dungeon)
Cleric
Barbarian
Venomancer
The venomancer's job is to pull the mobs, by sending her pet in to attack 1 and then stowing the pet (only the mob who was smacked will come after you, letting you fight 1 at a time)
Barbarian's role, is to stay in tiger form to increase his defense, and make sure that the mobs are only attacking him as often as possible.
Cleric, Clerics role, is to keep the barbarian healed, as well as attempt to save the others in the event that things aren't going to plan.
Now don't think that because that is their role that is ALL they do, but all 3 of those roles need to be done, to progress safely through, the remaining slots of the party can be filled with damage dealers.0 -
Ahh thank alot for the clarification....and yes we had been wondering what this "FB19 etc..." was. Had no clue it meant that...but ok. And I did notice the various roles...sort of. Yesterday I had done the "Daisy and Dandelion" quest. Having to kill a Darkheart Wolves or whatever they are called to aquire the heart for the Apothecary. My husband had already done this quest. He had mentioned that it took about 4-5 other people attacking the wolves, in order for him to attack just one.
Then suddenly yesterday when he was trying to help me...both of us kept dying and coulding figure it out...seeing as these wolves are lower level than we are.
I finally got tired of it...and then one person asked me to join their squad...I did...and it finally worked....although we killed many outside that cave...and it gave me nothing...we went inside....meditated, then killed another inside....and finally got it...even took on the large spider and killed it too.
Normally I am not the kind to ask for help. I like trying to do things on my own...but it tends to get frustrating...when these creatures are lower level than you are and yet they still kill you. I'm still fairly new to the game...so asking others to help me...well it gets a bit difficult....lol!
But I thank you both for your quick answers and help.0 -
I totally understand, Anira. I, like you and your husband (I think) prefer to play the game as a duo with my girlfriend. Avoiding FBs (dungeons/instances) until about 12-15 levels above them makes that mostly possible at least up until about your 40s when the game starts throwing harder bosses at you for your cultivation and such. It forces you more and more toward having to have charms and a squad.
We were fine with having to buy occasional charms, but being forced to squad for normal progression (not FBs) is not what *we* tend to like. And so, I don't believe this to be the best game for a duo. We are likely to begin searching for other, more duo friendly, less costly games in the next week or so upon her return. I hope it works out for you!0
