Thinking of getting a laptop

So I'm thinking of getting a laptop. It will mainly be used for taking notes and doing stuff when I'm not at my desktop. But I also want to be able to play Perfect World on it. I've been looking at two, one because I like the design, and the other was recommended to me by my brother and a few cousins.

The one I prefer.

I believe these are the same spec wise, just different size.

Except I'm no computer knowledgeable person (at least when it comes to things such as RAM or graphics cards.) So help a person out, which would you recommend?

I'm not too picky about the inch size, I'm fine with anything between 13-17 inches.

Do yourself a favor and dont play this game on a laptop. Mine is a top of the line Gateway laptop, yet it CONSTANTLY overheats. I can barely go to grind parties because im always disconnected from overheating. :(

Well, I don't plan on playing it for extended amounts of time. Since when I do use the laptop, it'll probably be when I'm at my campus, so I'd only maybe do tiny bits of stuff in PW. :P Then I'd be at my desktop for the rest.

For one gateway sucks lol........ and two thats not a very good laptop if it overheats :P Not to mention your laptop must be super outdated or old.
I recommend buying laptops from newegg.com they are way cheaper than Sony, dell, gateway will ever sell that same laptop to you at a decent price. I've done the comparisons.

I got mine from http://www.newegg.com ASUS brand for $1400 and here are my specs. Btw ASUS customer service is next to amazing. Highly recommended.

    HDD: 320GB
    RAM: 4GB
Graphics Card: Nvidia Geforce i9500X GS (newest one out to date)
    CPU: 2.10GHz

I never overheat, ever. Not to mention the game looks awesome at full potential. :)

EDIT: I just looked at the computer you "prefer" to get the first link, and my computer is nearly double as good as that in every way at way less than double the price. Would you rather pay $900.00 for that crappy one, or $1400 (rounded up) for one that's twice as good.

    # Tech: Intel Centrino 2 Processor Technology
    # Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
    # CPU Type: Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 2.26G

    # Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9700M GT

This one is 2x better than the one you listed in the first link at only $100 more :) cant beat that lol.

Well if price were aside, then yes I would buy the better one. But I'm not trying to get a godly laptop, just one that would last me. Especially since my family has purchased way too much recently. A XBox360, a new lawnmower (cause our old one broke), and college tuition for two people.

Perfect World at medium graphic settings is enough to suit me in normal play, even though I love it at it's full potential.

Thank you for the links, I'll check them out. :)

Did you read the edited post above? ^^ added some stuff you chould check out.
I know you don't want a godly laptop bu if your willing to spend that much you should get one thats more worth your money. You should really check out the ones I've showed you above. Otherwise your going to be throwing your money away.

EDIT: I saw you noticed the links hehe ^^ and 2GB is not really a lot of ram to run a heavy MMO and other things in the background. You would be limited to just running the game basically and that's no fun.

P.S. I am sorry if I seem pushy in any way. I just dont want to see someone spend so much money on a laptop that will last them a year at most before it becomes outdated and unable to run new software. Not to mention the ones your looking at in your first post are highly overpriced.

Just do yourself a favor and avoid dell.. seriously i would prefer anything over dell. the problem is that they use all the cheapest parts they can get on their computers and then make them so that you cant add aftermarket hardware because their chassis only fit Dell products... go with something else because if you go with a dell your going to end up with an unreliable piece of garbage within a year. Also dell has some of the worst customer service i have ever dealt with. HP products hold up nicely ;)

my recommendation would be an hp pavilion dv5t. according to customer reviews its the best bang for your buck. Its a little more expensive but if i were you id save a little to get a quality product.

This is the labtop I got.
    http://www.epinions.com/GATEWAY_MX6124_GATEWAY_MX6124_PC_Notebook_Computer/display_~full_specs

I play this game on this computer and it plays like a breese. All games I have played on here do, which is really good considering my ex had a desktop that had more RAM and everything and his games would freeze on him all the time. I would not go with Dell. I had a Dell labtop and it messed up in a couple months. I took it to Best Buy to get it fixed and found out with Dell that they don't share parts with anyone so you have no choice, but to send the computer back to them to fix it. They didn't make anything for the labtop I had so I got a new one. I got a Gateway. Honestly, I was nervous about it, but this is the BEST computer I have ever had!! I don't have any problems with it whatsoever. This one only cost about $800 with taxes included. I would recommend getting a Gateway, but stay away from Dell. They are overpriced and not as good as you may think they are. The things you really want to look for is your memory. Don't get anything that has installed memory under 512MB and for your hard drive nothing under 60GB. You don't need a gaming computer to play this with ease. Mine is an everyday kind of labtop and it's great.

I'm not familiar with the current laptop market, but I have to put a disclaimer on this warning. Hard drivers and installed memory are usually cheap and easy to upgrade. It usually takes no more than a pair of screwdrivers and a half-hour, and maxing out memory or replacing a hard drive on a laptop will seldom cost you over a hundred bucks total.

If you don't get enough RAM (2 gigabytes), you'll want to upgrade that component, but you can do so, excluding a few oddities like the cheaper EEE PCs or a MacBook.

Graphics cards are supreme. The market isn't as bad as it used to be, but the difference between an Intel GMA onboard chip and discrete graphics solutions like an nVidia 8600 (or greater) is indescribable. More importantly, it's also not something you can replace in the future -- the vast majority of these chips are soldered directly to the board.

About the people bashing Dell, I don't know about the laptops, but my desktop runs like a dream.
    And with Vista, that's hard.

When dell have promotions and stuff, the prices of their computer's and laptops are ok.
