Is crafting worth it in the open beta?

I haven't played in the closed Beta and so I'm new to PW, but not to MMO's.
I am a level 10 now, and I started looking into crafting, I did the quest and have all 4 Crafts.

This morning (Europian time) I spent an hour and a half farming, since last night there just weren't any material nodes to be found. I did manage to find some this morning, but the mats i found went up pretty fast on the items I crafted, and I haven't gained a level or anything.

Normally I don't mind crafting in an MMO because you can find loads of materials anyway while playing, but here I seem to have to go out of my way to find them. Now I understand that everybody is starting out and gathering/crafting like mad, and materials are scarse. But having to spend hours just to find enough of a particular material seems to much like work to me at the moment. ;)

Would it gimp me terribly if I left crafting to others, and instead gather what materials I can find and sell those off?

In short it is not worth crafting the lvl 1 stuff. Everybody is poor and your stuff has virtually no resell value. It will pay off when your crafting level is maxed.
Because learning crafting skill costs sp and money, you'd better focus on one or two crafting skills.

going to modify what the above poster had to say, it can save you money to craft your own weapon/armor/jewelry and you may get slightly better than what is in NPC Shop. Plus in order to get higher Craft skill you are going to need to craft at least 10 products of each type. I do agree that you would be better off (in general) selling the resources than crafted products at lvl 1 crafting.
Perhaps the greatest secret to getting along with others lies in learning to respect their opinion(s) even while you disagree with them.

think of the lower lvl crafting as an investment.
If you don't pass the lower levels, then how are you going craft those end game stuff?
The other alternative is to buy those off other players.
Just imagine how much those stuff gonna cost.
