    Maby its the Windows Mode.

Try Full Mode, and if required, update your Video Grafic Drivers and Direct X.

I have the same issue. I am running:
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.2GHz
    2048MB RAM; NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT (512 MB); SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio;

I updated my direct X and video card drivers. What gives? I can play any other game on the market, and I often duel box many of them with no problems...Any help would be appreciated as this seems like a pretty cool game.

I am not a computer tech nor will I claim to be. I have read on these forums though that becuase this is actually an older game, your computer system can actually be TOO good for the game.

Your problem may actually be that your computer is too darn powerfull for the game to run on.

Edit: This game is very! picky with languages and hardware. If you have any language packs uninstalled from your OS, reinstall them. It is also true that this game is **** for newer hardware.

I only get 25ish fps with this rig simply because the game isnt coded for dual/quad, 64bit and just new technology period.

For dual and quad cores, change the Affinity setting for your CPUs in your OS for the Process running the game to run on a single core. The game was made for single core and does not support multi-threading.

Also try running the game in compatibility mode for Win XP SP2, if in Vista.

This is my personal opinion, Vista is horrible right now, 64 bit or not. It has greater security then XP, but it has a lot of bloatware. Think of it as the Win ME version for 64 bit. Windows 7 should alleviate these issues.

Vista 64bit drivers (from third parties for graphics, motherboards, etc) are a whole other issue.

Also, please Search the Stickies and the forums, so you can try to find the answer to your issue quicker.

    I'd say, re-install your Operating System. Especially when you're on vista since its IMO, C R A P :).

I actually had the same problem when I first installed the game...it worked fine for about ten minutes but when i changed the display settings, i got the blue screen of death which reoccurred every time i started the game, even after lowering the settings.

I wound up having to completely remove the game from my computer and reinstall it, and i have left the graphics the way they were originally set and have been playing with no problems (although crappy graphics =( )ever since.

Gah, what in the heck is wrong with these forums. At random times you cant post messages longer than 3 lines. I had something helpful to contribute but now ya just get this. Between the game and these forums, something is wrong with PWE coding! :/

if its Vista try right clicking the perfect world on desktop and run as administrator

if XP run Direct X see if all is ok and maybe downgrade the drivers back a bit say version 175.16 (what i use runs sweet) i also have a Core2Duo no issues for me..

I just got a reply from the admins about this issue. before this reply I did roll back my video card driver to a previous version, and I don't freeze up as much, but I will try this when I get home.

    Email reply from the admins---
On Sat, 13 Sep 2008 1Thank you for sending the DXDiag file. From
looking at it, it appears your system has a dual-core processor.
Unfortunately, the game's programming does not fully support multithreading and
dual or quad-core processors can sometimes cause performance issues. To
fix this, start the game, then press Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up the Task
Manager. In the processes tab, find elementclient.exe. Right-click on it,
choose Set Affinity, and uncheck one of the cores.

Hopefully this will work and help out a few people.

Well changing the affinity so that it ran on one core didn't help....If anything it made it worse. i reinstalled the game...to no avail. This weekend I will reinstall windows, even though this is a fairly fresh install...about two months, but maybe it missed a file or something. If that doesn't fix it then I am at a loss. I monitor the temp in my computer (motherboard, processor, and overall internal temp) no problem there. The only thing that it may be...but I doubt it, is that I only have a 400 watt psu.....Ya I know, all that stuff in my computer I should have at least an 800 watt, but hey I had the 400 watt in my parts computer, so I pulled it when I built this one. I never had a problem with it not supplying enough power but you never know

When I finally figure this out I will be a happy person!

I would try installing the optimizer for your CPU.

For example, I was having trouble with this game a weeks ago. The game speeds up so fast it would impossible to play so I downloaded the AMD Dual-Core Optimizer Version 1.1.4 and wala.

If you all have dual-core or quad core CPUs, try changing the Affinity setting for the process, and change it to 1 CPU for Perfect World to run with.

Ctrl+ALT+Del for Task Manager > Click on the Processes tab > right click on the process called "elementclient.exe" > Select Affinity > untick/uncheck all but one CPU > Select OK.

See if that helps some :D

Yessir, tried the affinity stuff, tried the optimizer, reformatted, reinstalled, blah, blah, blah, this is not cool. I can play all day at work on some piece of junk dell :P but I can't play at home...By the way the dell has duel core and no problems. Any other Ideas? I been searching the web high and low, but no real solutions yet..

This is just an update :) I haven't given up on PW yet....I added two more case fans, had to do a bit of modding, but it looks good. I may add one more, but not sure where to put it. I still can't play the game so I decided to do some more mods to my system. I ordered a 1000 watt Ultra X3 power supply, and a XFX GeForce 8800 Ultra 768MB PCIe Graphics Card. Hopefully I will get everything by this weekend, and then I will go from there. i'm thinking that maybe my other video card, although it is relatively new, may have been the problem, so I will kill two birds with one stone; power/video. Maybe *fingers crossed** I will be back in the game by saturday lol!!

Well I added the new video card and power supply. Unfortunatly the video card was huge so it didn't fit in my old case so I had to by a full tower instead of a mid tower. After the mobo swap and all the other junk I got the comp operational. I can finally play PW without my computer freezing. I'm not sure if the power supply fixed it or if it was the video card. Either way, for those of you that were having this issue, maybe upgrade the power supply and video card, or try one or the other.
