Can't connect to update or game server

Hi there. I'm new around.

I downloaded and installed PWI from one of the official mirrors. I verified the game files when the installation asked about it. Then I updated the game and everything went fine. Then I entered the game (login screen shows the 2 correct servers and displays "1.3.9 Build 2265" as the game version, not sure if this last bit is correct). I procceeded to put my username/password on the fields and click Start. After about 20 seconds, it said "Unable to connect with server".

After that first run, when I run the patcher it doesn't connect (I get "Update server connection fails" on the left side of the updater and a browser error page on the right).

I have deactivaded my firewall, Windows' firewall, my antivirus and my malware protection. I'm behind a router, but I forwarded all 29000 traffic to my computer. I've searched all over the boards but I can't find an answer (sorry if this has been covered tho, I may not have searched long enough). I'm not in any of the blocked countries. I'm not under a bigger network (college, work or such).

    You didn't use any of the manual patches from the mirror site, did you?

    No, definitely not. Just wanted to make sure, 'cause that would be bad.

    Can you post the rest of your log up? It would help if you can remove the special character, the ellipsis (...) after Connecting to server... you might just see a black mark in notepad. Remove those and the log should paste up here properly. The forum truncates messages after certain special characters.

    The situation is, I'm pretty sure I have the client up to date, and I can run both the updater and game client. But none can connect to their respective servers.

    I see what you mean now. It connected fine, downloaded all the patch files, then 2 minutes later... stopped being able to connect at all.

    I guess the first thing you can try is opening up the patcher, and hitting the Verify button to verify your files. It will either take a few minutes, connecting to the server to verify them.... or it will fail right away.

    Fails right away. It says "Verifying game files" for about 20 seconds and then goes back to "Unable to connect, please choose another update server".

    I don't know if this can help, but I've tried to ping "pwipatch.perfectworld.com" (as suggested by \Perfect World International\patcher\server\updateserver.txt) and get no response at all.

    That's quite normal. Ping requests time out for me too.

    I know you've deactivated your security programs, but could you still go into their settings, find the exclusions lists... and if any perfect world files are already on there, remove them and re-add them. You may also need to do the same with your router settings.

    Ok, fixed.

    I'm really sorry, I just don't know how to use my d**n firewall.

    Apparently COMODO Pro stills protects you when you close it. You need to actively specify PWI as a trusted app in it's interface.

    I'm really really sorry you wasted your time in an incredibly noobish error coming from a long time mmorpger who should know better, pal.

    Ahh, ok. Yes Comodo is quite the persistent firewall. And don't apologize! I'm really glad you brought this one to light. A few other people have experienced similar problems, so this might be a possible solution for them too. Good work! :)

    Can someone provide the actual steps to have Comodo Firewall allow PWI as a trusted app? I too have Comodo Firewall. I recently downloaded PWI client via FilePlanet and all the files are verified. Launched the game and selected the PvE server, but when it came to the login screen where I need to use the virtual keyboard, this is where I get stuck.
