I was tired of computer crashes, problems and all things. So I decided to restart from zero: formatted my computer.

I installed Vista again. Just after that, configured my internet connection and installed Perfect World again. I could play a few minutes... and crashed again!!!

Does anybody knows why?

Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bits
CPU: Athlon 64 X2 6000
RAM: 2GBytes
GPU: ATI Radeon Sapphire 4850

I did search on your video card and found an article called ATI Hotfix for Radeon HD 4850/4870 Video Cards Released
This Hotfix improves overall performance and stability. The Hotfix includes the Display Driver and Catalyst Control Center.

So give it a try and download the hotfix.

Edit - hmm it not linking to the right web page. Follow the link. On the right side click Radeon Support - PC -> Radeon HD 4850 -> Choose 2 and then download the one for Vista.

Are you running in full screen mode? What version of direct x are using?press start -> run -> type in dxdiag under system information is Direct X version:.

I did more search on your video card and there seems to be an issue with having directx 10 and anti-aliasing enable in Windows Vista., but I think that what that hotfix was suppose to fix.

So, if I was in your shoes. In my last attempt to get the game working. I would try running the game in Windows mode or lower screen resolution, turn off aa, and use directX 9.0

    Edit -

Also, try this driver update instead (its newer) http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=vista32/common-vista32. The one I link you previously was an older release. You should only need to download the Display Driver option.

Yeah, the Radeon 4850 seems to have a lot of problem. Many are saying is due to overheating. I highly recommend you look at this link and follow through carefully.

    Edit #2

Thanks for helping. I do not have Vista SP1 yet because I formatted computer this week. It is still downloading lots of things.

As for the Directx, I do not know how to put in 9.0. Vista is Directx 10, and so my GPU is.
By the way, the fan of GPU does not work in "Perfect World". Maybe because it does not need? Anyway, I have to reinstall Crysis here to test it.

I will follow the steps you told.

Thanks. If anything happens (fail or sucess), you will know.
