    I love vague statements that serve no purpose.

    Cotton thread usually drops of skeleton type mobs. The low level skele archers and casters are a good source but heavily farmed right now.

    also the umm, I forget the name, but the mobs with the needles on there back drop them.

    you can find level 6 Skeletal Archers in the north of the Desert of Echoes if you are an Untamed. or you can just buy some in the Perfect World Boutique.

    good to know that there are specific monsters that have a higher probability of dropping the thread.

    Hill of Swarm is the easiest, and closest for a BM or W.

    Ive not been able to find it being sold at the PW Boutique Agent, can anyone confirm that it is sold there?

    It is sold there, push O or Alt + O it should be on matertials 1 or 2 tab, the lowest level cotton goes for 60 silver.

    I have found them off of skeletal warriors as well, in the White Ridge area for elves, and also from vortex monarch turtles in the lake by the White Ridge area south of Plume. I got 20 of them from the turtles last night - took about 1 hour or so.

    why would you buy cotton thread for real money when it can be got relitavely easily from normal mobs.

    Because it does not drop easily once you get to moderate levels. Only low level opponents (under level 20) drop cotton thread and once you get too much higher in level than those opponents the drop rate becomes horrible and eventually stops entirely.

    to say nothing of the minor detail that when you buy from the boutique you get a bundle of 40

    It is not sold at the PW Boutique Agent, the button to the boutique itself is the yellow icon around your mini-map. I found the cotton thread there.

    ...that said, how do you get silver to buy it?

    You have to charge zen and then get it turned into gold in-game.

    Nice drop rate for cotton, I'm at lvl 25 and after a while of killing them they start dropping many.

    Scroll to the bottom and there's a list of mobs that drop it along with a drop rate. Click on the mob name to get info about the mob.

    A real good place for cotton thread... kill the turtles in lake of no worries.
    Its a quest place so sometimes can be a little crowded, but they respawn fast.
