Lvl too low to gather?

I got lvl 18 and I can't harvest the mats anymore it says "lvl to low to gather" or something, does that refer to char lvl like i gotta get 20+ or do I need to get crafting lvl 2 of the corresponding craft before I can? IE: lvl 2 weaponsmith to gather the new ore.

    Your character level is what matters, not the crafting skill.

    So that means I don't need to craft if i dont want to and just gather mats till high lvl and sell them?

    Cause in other games I like to pick up gathering profession and just sell mats, and not bother with crafting armors and stuff.

    Every material has a level requirement. The materials used in level 1 receipes can be picked at very low levels (I did not try before level 5 so I do not know if you could get them before then). The materials required in level 2 receipes require you to be level 20 (and can often be found around level 17+ opponents). You can still gather the low level ones at level 18, but you will need to be 20 before you can gather the new ones (which is just as well since having them all is a huge inventory nightmare). There are additional items that cannot be gathered until level 50 (and you have probably seen some of those because you will often see areas right near low level creatures that have level 50+ opponents and crafting materials growing nearby with names you have never heard of).

    if you have friends who start you off with some money ingame to get the pick-axe you can get the first type of resources at level 1, I usually try to buy the pick as soon as possible to pre-collect for the quests you get at level 5
    Perhaps the greatest secret to getting along with others lies in learning to respect their opinion(s) even while you disagree with them.
