Jewels/sockets

i have a 2 star lvl 3 bow 1 socket, that i would like to put a gem in. however, my item will not drag into the slot.. is there a certain requirment before im able to socket?

also, in the help files, it says taht i need a jewelcrafter to create higher lvl gems. however, this is not one of the profssions offered by the elder, do i have to go somewhere to become a jewelcrafter?

    o, and do u lose the gem when u unsocket an item?

    you have to talk to a NPC to have a gem put in a socket, I think the blacksmith will do it.

    The gem merchants sell gems or can convert shards into full gems.

    when you purify an item, do you keep the gem? or does the gem disappear.
