Hello PWI
Just wanted to post my thoughts and thanks to everyone I adventured with.
I was told about PWI from a friend as we played City of Heroes, with her convincing me to give this a shot. I have to say I'm glad I did. I never played on the other versions, so this was virgin territory for me, having to learn new classes and skill sets as well as game mechanics. Overall, a rather small learning curve that was made easier at times by the people in the game.
I met some great and not so great people in game...lol...although, basically, it wasn't much different from any other MMORPG in that aspect. I reached level 40, albeit with some amount of frustration, due mostly to PK'ers camping out in key zones. They're vicious, but at times, hilarious. I kept count of the number of times I was PK'd, not because I wanted revenge, but because I was interested to see how it was done here and the tactics used, to see how they evolved as the levels increased.
Proudly, in a perverse sort of way, I was killed the most by Envy, the beautiful and deadly wife of Pnut. The time I laughed the hardest was when I joined them for FB39 and got dc'd due to my cable company. I was able to reconnect rather quickly, but appeared in the instance un-squaded. Envy and Pnut then proceeded to kill me directly after zoning in. A big thanks to Ruin for attempting to keep me alive, by the way. After the both of them killing me, and Ruin rezzing me, they reinvited me and we carried on, until I lost my cable/internet/phone connection due to some moron digging a hole...lol.
Speaking of Ruin, he was one of the most interesting and engaging people I'd talked to in PWI. We spent the better part of 2 hours on quests, though it never got dull even with the grind of killing 4 and a half billion drowned undines...lol.
I had run ins with various others, especially in the Secret Passage. Too many PK'ers camping out in there, so I left it alone after the third attempt. I also met my first demise trying to catch a flying Pig near Wellspring. I'd just turned thirty and was hovering near the spawn point, when Rose and Suzuku decided I'd been breathing their air long enough. Interestingly, it took both of them plus a third to kill me, even though I had no flying pet at the time, so I guess I did okay
Karion and Envy by far were the most interesting to kill me off. I'd be fighting a mob, they'd jump in and: Stun, Kill, Move on. LOL...it wasn't personal, I just happened to be in the area and it was their violent way of saying, 'Hey! Hiya doing?'.
It was because of some of the PK'ers that I met some really great people though. SkyLord, a fantastic archer and all around funny guy. Saria, a quiet but helpful Veno. Drizzt', another great and funny guy that was always up for helping out true NEWB out. Brittface and Vortath, a couple that was a great time to quest with and be around in general.
I didn't get into all the drama, and won't do so here. I had both good and bad experiences with the guilds. In the end, it comes down to the players, not the guild tag, that make them fun or griefers. I don't PvP, I'm just not experienced enough to really get into it yet. One day, when I understand the mechanics and tactics of the classes better, I probably will, but for now, I'll practice on the PvE server, getting familiar with each classes strengths and weaknesses.
That doesn't mean that I'm not going to try to stay in touch with those that opt to remain on the PvP server. It just means I'll either keep my blue name there or be a safe area running veno
Overall, I'm excited about starting OB later today and hope to build upon the starting friendships I've found so far. So, for those I quested with, that helped me or that I helped out, I'm looking forward to seeing you when leveling and questing actually mean something I'll probably keep my name in OB, so if you see Mynxtress running around looking for newer and cuter pets, give me a shout.
Have fun in OB everyone!

You look like our kind of person, really. Seeing the game for what it is, nothing else but a game and a place to have fun and make friends.
If you decide, the Dragons will welcome you at any time.0 -
Thank you for the invite, I'm honored I'll spend some time getting used to the full potential of the classes, and hopefully meet up with you in the game.0
