Quests are extremely vague!

Quests in this game are so vague, more than any other game I have ever played.
I am trying to figure out if there is something I am missing though. Quest tracker points an arrow back to the NPC I recieved the quest from. I have obviously already been to the npc to get the quest in the first place, why in the world do I need an arrow back to him/her? However, "Kill 10 x creatures to the east" could use an arrow itself.
Half of the quests I have dont even give a direction. They just say kill 10 x creatures and return to the NPC. Okaaaaay, any clue to where these x creatures are? I honestly dont feel like running around for an hour trying to find them.
I do find it a nice feature though to search for a quest NPC. However it is a little annoying if you want an arrow you have to take the cords it gives you and put then in the cord finder yourself.
Anyways, is there something I am missing or something that actually makes these quests easier to find?

Now if u read ur quest guide screen, u do get written at what part of world u can find mobs/plants/mats just need to read more carefully.....
now some quests give you cords of NPc or place u need to see that is important for your quest, so just write cords in waypoint tracker icon found at minimap hud at right upper corner, icon is green dart, and there u have it....RADIANCE Guild Marshal ---> only the best

Yes, that was what I was talking about in my original post. However, from what I have seen its not often that they give you the coords to the items you need. And I do read, some of the quests are just vague...
As I said, they generally say something like :
NPC X is afraid of x creatures. She wants you to kill 10 x creatures. Return to NPC X when you have completed your quest.
No location, no cords and no N/S/E/W directions. True, some quests at least include one of those three (and when they do I dont have a problem). Its the rest of the quests that dont include that info ...
Dunno, guess I have gotten used to every other MMO out there clearly marking the location of the items needed. I just dont find it fun to run for hours trying to find quest items, if you gained XP for each step you took in the game then we might be talking0 -

Thanks, will take a look at them tonight with OB0 -
I think he's right....quest mobs should have an "!" or some kinda of symbol on top of their head or on the mini-map to indicate that where and which mob to kill. i'll put this into suggestion box....0

ummm this is an mmorpg... if they give u the exact coordinate sound more like a robot... less rpg ish u know
finding the monster is part of the game
the arrow to the NPC... SOME PEOPLE do need them, like me lol i get lost all the time.
and the guide is pretty good... they tell u where it is... all u need to do is just walk around that place and find them...
i think pw have one of the best quest system... try playing Silkroad.... *shrugs*0 -
'find quest' button
just show the npc,
dats not enough, should include da place name0 -
if you will read carefully you will see the map of npc that are having quest are indicated by color orange, normal NPC are yellow, and the finish quest NPC are violet u just have to look carefully not just posting here in forum saying that its annoying or irritating.. wake up guys thats is why its called mmorpg.. not just some kind of normal rpg your playing.. :D[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I would rule against an arrow pointing to monsters for quests, it would be too easy. Part of the fun is to explore and try to figure your way around the game. When you are going around town, try to take notice the of the enemies on your way there. Most of the time, you would have encountered the enemy that a quest requires you to kill. Otherwise, there is the guide that people refer to here.0

By the way, they are not the most vague quests, try the quests in Lineage 2 XD ... those are vague xDYami - Cleric

If I'm not mistaken, you can get a quest before that, asking to kill 5 Darkbreed Wolfkins. And that quest tells you where they are. Outside the Den of Wolves / inside it.0 -

yeah the quests are vague at times.
silkroad quests are stupid. Kill 1000 of this monster, and guess what when you need more exp and oh definitely you will you can repeat the quest 5 times!! yay, that is purely stupid.
I have a high level on silkroad, but ever since I found PW I hgavent been on silkroad, this game is so much better for a person that wishes to play legit0 -
Wow, maybe you would like someone to play the game for you too. As it has been mentioned before, part of the purpose of the quest is to familiarize you with your surroundings and to learn from your experiences. Where is the fun in being told go to a specific location, kill x number of mobs, which we will mark for you, then report back to this exact spot to claim your prize.
If all else fails, you can come back to a forum such as this and ask a specific question about a specific quest, and probably get an answer very shortly.0 -
I agree the quest guides are very vague...even some tell you to go west or another direction or to a certain area but no coords and i just wander and wander and never find what i'm looking for. it would be nice to have some kind of coords you could put into the tracker to get an arrow so i could at least get in the vicinity of what i'm looking for. What a long strange trip its been!!0

There are at last few pages with coords of spawning points.
But quests are vague because of diffrent reason (at last for me).
They are boring and predictable. Go, get item, go, kill 10, 15, 30, 90 mobs. Sometimes get some herbs (yay, somthing diffrent). Pure grinding but with changable locations . Sure there are much worse systems (f.e. silkroad), but also much better (f.e. wow). At last all have one story line, thats the plus.0 -
Jeeezz, the quests aren't vague, they are meant for you to have to look around sometimes and use your head. Most of the quests give you a general idea of where to go, and guess what, when you have the requirements of the quest done, there's an npc tracker for the quest that will light up a yellow arrow for Exactly where you have to turn it in. And there are answers on the forum for the FEW odd quests that you can get stuck on. IMO it would take a lot of the enjoyment out of it if every quest were wham bang grind turn it in and no thinking for yourself or looking around. Use your head, and don't expect the game to do EVERYTHING for you.0

The guy here is right and seems like you are making a fool of him.
some quests only tell you one thing "KILL X of this creature". BANG
Where do you find those creatures?
"Collect X of that item" BANG? Where do you get the item? location name? any pointers? West of what area? South?, North? or EAST? They say nothing.
They should say something like, kill X of that monster that are told to be found on area X.
with that info, even if they dont say North, south, east or west I know where to look for them. and wont waste time looking for them like a fool running around aimlessly.
We DO NEED some pointers. we didnt develop the game to know where they spawned the mobs of the the chest.
you still think they give you all the info?
Its true that it is OUR duty to look for mobs and items but as I said we NEED pointers. A starting point. Not a vague babling.0 -
I'm glad they don't tell me the coordinates for all the quests, they give enough info to find the mobs. I've never really had too much of a problem finding stuff. There's been a few times where it took awhile. What fun would it be if I didn't have to hunt?0

i have no idea what your talking about WoW and its better quests >.>
in all games your going to be killing x mobs for x items, sure they will change it up a bit say kill an "elite" mob, or use x item on x mob to get x. in the end u cant change quests that much, every way u could change it would: either work, has been done, not plausible.0 -

How do you use your head when a quest says something like "Kill X creatures ... end". No direction, no arrow, no coords ... nothing.
If I wanted to have to spend hours exploring instead of getting to the meat of each quest I would have played Myst.
It's like going on vacation. I know where I want to go and plan a route to get there, the fun isnt in the driving although you may enjoy looking at the scenery but you surely wouldnt just drive somewhere without having at least a clue of which direction you are going.
Then, you have some quests that give a direction but no indication on how far away. They dont really say anything like "go far to the east" or "a short ways east" they just say "go east." There have been quests where I run in the direction I am supposed to go and will be running for like 15 min before I just give up ... the later find that if I would have just run 1 more min the creatures were right over the hill.
I dunno, yeah maybe I am spoiled with other MMO's but then again a game is supposed to be fun. I dont remember the last time I had fun getting TO a dungeon, just that I had fun IN the dungeon.
Why do they have mounts ingame that increase speed? Because people want to be where they need to go and they want to be there 10min ago.
Just my two cents. Not trying to make the core of the game easier... because the core of the game isnt traveling.0 -
I do also enjoy looking for quest mobs. And if I don't find them? I ask my faction and there's always someone who remembers where they are.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

Ach, actually you can make other quests than just "go and grind". For example escort quests, where you have to protect some NPC when it is running blindly forward (catching aggro like hell), or following you (even he can help you by fighting or healing). There important thing is not kill X mobs, just stay alive and protect someone.
Or, you have to go somewhere on a spy mission (and don't get cought, i.e. certain mobs can't see you, or follow some NPC trying not to get aggro and not to lose it from sight).
About quests and types of quests I can talk a lot. And yeah, I'm not sure all of them were implemented into WoW.
Point is, there it is not so important how many mobs you will kill on your way. With a bit (or more) of luck or by using your brain you can do this quests without bloody fight. And variety is quite bigger. Still in pw you have two kinds: go and grind (X mobs, [elite(?)] boss) or go and take (XXX item).0 -
Its really not that hard to find most mobs you tend to pass by them on the way to getting the quest, like yesterday i had two quests that needed me to kill some mobs and since i was flying low enough to see the mobs on the way there i knew i just had to walk out of the town a bit to find them, easy as pie. There will be a few quests that get you stuck on where to find the mobs, and i love haveing the arrow back to a npc its very hand when the quest is to go talk to them and ive never been there before.0

In this particular quest with the Wolfkins, I'm an Elf, I was never asked to kill that particular enemy up until now. The quest gave no directions whatsoever on how to find said enemy I needed to get its heart. Some of these quests really can be vague to the point its frustrating for a new player such as myself. I'm trying my best to avoid hardcore grinding when I can just rely on my quests for the easy way out, experience-wise.
"maybe you would like someone to play the game for you too." ..you're ridiculous. If I wanted to do mins to an hour of running, I'd do it on my in-game free time. In my opinion, the real fun is in the avatar's progress. This game moves pretty damn slow in terms of mobility by foot, especially as a new Wing Elf.
There's 100's of levels to be had, if I'm not mistaken..0
