For me this has always been the name... T___________T
For some reason name is the most important for me, and if I don't like it I can't play with that character. I deleted lots of chars until I find a name that I like. Anime char / japanese names is too cliched, fantasy name generators always give awkward and not good-sounding suggestions... Finally I was able to create one that I love, and it's actually a pun on my real name with latin roots.

:D Maybe some people will say it's not a big deal.... For me it must be at the same time original, non-existant and with some phantasy touch as well that has very deep meaning to me... I especially like to start with letter S and use double vowels, like Khaai.

Don't like common names or cheap chat names like ～＊～＊～sExY～＊～cHiKk or cut13_f0x1e<3<3 or /\/ek0-Ch@/\/.... lol
I love names that incorporate chinese / korean / cyrillic / greek / thai etc. characters, but not those combining letters and numbers, e.g. f0x13_L33cH3R..... xD In Delphi you can see million WF chars like sexy_fox, naughty_fox, foxy_proxy, lil_foxy etc.
IMO is it very lame and childish, especially for a guild name... In fact people are usually very creative when it comes to naming their character, I have seen some absolutely amazing names!!! But also tonnes of lame ones.... And of course there is the possibility that something I find original, other people find cliched or worn-out.... I was looking at lots of latin and hebrew baby names these days, trying to create some nice combination of letters that appeals to me. ^^
Once I created the perfect name for a char, or at least I thought so (for another mmorpg).... And later I was shocked to find out it was actually an insult in icelandic language!!!!!! It had such a good sound o____O
So from that day on I'm very careful about this and always check google to see if the name already exists or has meaning in any language, Maybe it's just me after all, caring too much about this matter. XD What do you think? IS it hard for you to name your char? If not what's hardest for you?

P.S. I love Clawtjuh as a name, but it is occupied already T__________T
One more example of lame is LiL_gA/\/G$t@ (lol sry, couldn't help it xDD)

I always choose a simple name, a unforgettable name, but has it's roots in a variety of meanings and tones.

My Delphi char's name was /\/, and I also had a Jeff.

Short and punctual, but so many ways to interpret.

You are right, short names have their charm too... I usually prefer longer names, like 8 letters minimum XDD

I usually have no problem with names, personally. I have two or three "classical" names I use if they're not taken (and I play the role those names represent). Otherwise they're all original and dependent on what the character looks and feels like ability-wise. I despise nonsense names, those names takes from popular media and invariably using numbers or mispellings. Is it so hard to be unique, people!?

I digress. The hardest thing for me is balancing the appearance of the character, making sure everything flows just right. I spent about an hour total on my Venomancer, and about twice that long on my male Wizard. I'm a little disappointed that color chioces are limited, especially where the eyes are concerned. I make the character first, then decide on a personality, then move on to the name. It's just easier that way for me.

By the way I noticed that hairstyles in PWI are a bit more than PW MY, at least for female chars. If I spend like 3 hours on appearance, I can spend about 10 for the name... Because you know you can always change appearance later with transfigure scroll, but you can never change the name...

I made priest char to look like mature woman, probably around 30-35, with light make-up and wise look..... Whereas my WF is a bit naughty, cute teenage girl. I realized that decreasing the distance between mouth and nose makes chars look cuter. Also bigger eyes and smaller eyeball has a very nice feel to it. ^o^

it's easy to make up words and names. my fav is Shardreth (which my mother stole to play WoW and eudemons D; ) Vokoreth, Diargidam.
D; the other two i just made up on the spot. Not sure if they already exist.

BTW i suggest you don't share your favourite names in forum, since people can take them... Some people already complain about such incidents so i will keep mine a secret till OB (which is tomorrow) :cool:

It's hard to make a name, but what is probably harder is to think of a way to pronounce it LOL XD
I want it to look nice at first place, and then start thinking of possible ways to pronounce, if there are any

:D I also add a lot of h, e and other numb letters just to make it look more beautiful

I've always used the same names so it's never hard for me to think of one. I just can't pick a hair style. lol I'll sit here for a good 30 minutes trying to figure out which hair style and color goes good together.

Ah, so I'm not the only one who obsesses over character names.
I'd honestly spend twice as long coming up with a name than I would designing the character's appearance!
I believe it gives an extra touch of personality and uniqueness.

And I know I am less likely to recognize/notice someone with a name like 'sasuke1212212...etc.' or 'foxy_chick223'.

For PW though I have made up a list in my mind that I would be alright with, so hopefully I won't be sitting there deciding on one for hours at the start of OB. xP

Heh I'm like the rest of ye. I have a few "traditional" names I've used in MMO's since the dawn of tides and they tend to be very rarely taken on the western servers (more so in asian based servers). But if for any reason whatever I cannot use any of these names, I'm totally lost. Can take me a good hour to come up with a name I'm happy with, browsing the internet dictionaries and whatnot for inspiration

Here's a tip for everyone that can think of names but have trouble settling on appearance: Don't change any options (except class and gender) at first and save as quickly as possible to register the name, then go back and select "modify" to alter the appearance to your liking. You can change your character's appearance as much as you want for two days after creation, after which you have to use a scroll from the Cash Shop.

I always using the same name for any mmo and hardly have trouble to save it. But I kinda understand what you all mean and I'd feel lost if I couldn't use one of the 2 names I use.

Imo I don't really understand why in some mmo you still can put numbers or even worse, special caracters in your name which is very lame. I also dislike name in full caps or those which haven't a capital at begining although that last one still is ok~

I agree completely that numbers and special characters like kanji and stars should be disallowed. That ability is just too easily abused, especially griefers using kanji. I think a certain P2P game disallows numbers, which I think is great, as it encourages more originality than "Naruto214" or, gods help me, "53ph1r07h".

I've seen that one in a few games, and it pains me every time I think about it. =p

Unless you want to name yourself 'master' 'noob' 'slayer' 'hereigo' 'youlost' 'archer' etc...

The best to create a cool sounding name is IMO:

1. Close your eyes
2. Push a random 6-7 letters
3. Open eyes
4. Add some vowels to make it sound cool

The hardest for me is what class to choose. There are so many roles in MMO and I hate choosing the wrong class every time I play.

I have no problems with names cuz my IGN is pretty unique~ XD

i actually hardly ever i need to use a nickname i just put my real name there and usually it doesn't have anyone with that name ^^, and i use caps at one letter too but its not copying someone its because it looks cooler with the caps :cool:

I will probably spend hours on mine. I'm a huge stickler for perfection. I want my PW character to look like me, or Tom Cruise, or Keanu Reeves, or soemthing of that manner XD (PS: I dont look like Tom Cruise, or Keanu Reeves.)
