How do I get the skills from the Books that the Pet Skill Trainer gives me?

I got the books, and wanted the skills to heal, resscurect and tame pets. But I don't get how to learn the skills. It says in the skill tree that some of them should have been learned in lvl 3. I'm lvl 7 but I still don't have them. So how do I use the books?
