With this game I get random crashes.... No errors... just dumps me back to the desktop.

PC SPecs:
Intel E6600 2.4Gh (@3.6Ghz)
4GB DDR2 800Mhz
Windows Vista 64bit
Raided 500GB 16MB Cache RAID0
Sapphire Radeon 4870

Graphic Settins:
1920x1200
All others maxed

I play other MMO's and Single player games without issue. This occurs on average every 2 hours. One time i was opening a chest. One time i was jumping. Another I was in starting an attack..... No specific action sets it off.

Other Applications Running:
AVG Pro Antivirus
Samsung Printer Software
Daemon Tools

Just curious what you all thought :)

Thnx.

PW tends to crash ocassionally, but it opens a "send a bug report" window if it does.
EDIT: forget the above sentence, i remembered what was causing this. It was my fault :p

If PW crashes, it opens a "send a bug report" window, these crashes seem to always be caused by invalid/modified files. Which doesn't seem to be the case here, but just to be sure, click "verify" on the patcher window.

Crashing to desktop w/o messages could be caused by older drivers... I know that usually outdated drivers lead to BSODs, but they can also lead to apps crashing silently. Try updating your drivers/directX

Oh and if you happen to get a BSOD, write down the STOP code and the file that caused it (if any)

Well it is possible that it is the drivers as the ATI 4870 drivers are very new... I was using 8.7, but i will update to 8.8 and see.

Also did verify. It went through its deal and said "veified complete" no other messages.

Also wanted to stress that i DID NOT get an error submission box on any of the crashes.

    No joke...

Well no crashes tonight at all... will keep reporting though.

During verify i saw three stages...

    1. Verifying....
    2. Installing (thought odd for verifying)
    3. More verifying

Also loaded 8.8 drivers instead of 8.7....

So either the verify or the drivers fixed it.. or im lucky.......
Its possible netiher did and im randomly lucky...... ill let you know in a day or two....
Either way no crash so far......

In my case, not only the game, but the computer crashes.
I have almost the same configuration:

Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bits
    Athlon 64 X2 6000
    2Gbytes RAM DDR 2 800 Kingtson Hyper X
ATI Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 (Catalyst Center 8.8 already installed)

    And the same problems occur.
Does anybody know how to stop these annoying problem?

If you computer crashes, it displayes a BSOD, write down the STOP code and the filename that caused it and post it here. If your PC reboots after the crash, go start->computer properties->advanced system settings->startup & recovery settings->untick automatically restart checkbox. Next time it should display a BSOD.

Indeed, 32bit is obsolete and dying.
There is a reason why a vista key is usable for either bit-version of Vista. A home key works for home 32/64, ultimate for ultimate 32/64.

On silly but curious question: PW runs well on Vista 64 bit?

Well after updating the video drivers to Ati 8.8 no more crashes.

And it runs great on Vista 64 by the way (after the update)

Someone commented on Vista 32 bit not working on 64 bit processors? This is a falsity. It runs fine. I manage a computer store and have shipped hundreds of vista machines all on 64bit cpus. Besides.... current 64 bit processors are not actually 64bit... they are 32bit with 64bit extensions. Unless the OS is 64bit, it cannot touch those extensions... thus making it basically a 32bit cpu.

I run 64bit Vista because I want to make use of a full 4GB ram. If that could be done with 32bit Vista, I would run that instead since it has more software/driver compatibility. There are a lot of tools i cannot use because im 64 bit. Mainly a lot of overclocking/testing tools, but nothing important.

I already uploaded to ATI 8.8 driver and Catalyst System and the crasch still occurs.

Until one hour ago, I did not realize that the LCD monitor driver was not installed properly. This lapse could interfere and cause problems?

If it is not the cause, soon I

I would be seriously surprised if the LCD drivers were the cause. Unlike most drivers (which tells the hardware how to work).... the LCD drivers only tell the computer which resolutions, refresh rates, and colours it supports. The LCD driver is not a program like nearly all other drivers... but a marked up text file.....

For you I would suggest running two programs... 1) Memtest + and 2) seatools for dos..... both can be found on the UBCD (ultimate boot cd)

The first tests memory... If you see red.... very bad... run for at least 2-4 hours... the second is for hard drives and will tell you if you have bad sectors......

In most cases you are probably fine... but it is best to rule out simple things first... Next time you crash, recall if you get a response like most people? (If so type everything you saw).... If you didn't get any message as I did not, then write your PC specs, and applications you run in the background (specifically antivirus, antispyware, and firewall) as they are the most likely cause of issues.

Like you said, the LCD driver monitor has nothing related.

    My computer especification is:
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bits
    CPU: Athlon 64 X2 6000
    RAM: Kingston Hyper X 2GB DDR2 800
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 512MB
    Anti virus: Avast

With this configuration, I can play "Crysis" with no problems. That

Saruman, I was playing very well during 30 minutes, but the games crashed again.

But this time a blue screen appeared. Besides that it reccomended update the video card driver (already did that), here is the showed info:

    Technical information:

Is that error always reporting the ATI file? That is the ATI driver kernel. If all other games work fine, and updating drivers did not help. Then there are only two possible remaining causes.

    1) Bug in driver/game with your specific card (w/ drivers)

For this one there are only two things you can do. Wait for game/driver updates or downgrade drivers to an older one... Go back a few versions.

    2) Some other application in combination with Perfect World is interfering with drivers. To help you on this one I would need to have a hijack this log. If you do not know how, this link will tell you how.. Post the results on the forum here.

Also just for fun try exiting Avast before you play. Probably not the cause, but worth a shot.

Also by chance do you have zonalarm installed? This has been known to cause that BSOD with some configurations.

That's correct. So far i didn't have one program that didn't work under Vista64, there are some that don't, of course.

I did not say it doesn't work, but using a 32-bit OS when you have a 64-Bit CPU (even if it's only an extension) is simply reducing performance. Tools like archivers (7zip), some video encoding software benefits from using the 64-Bit versions and you wouldn't want to encode/compress slower than possible with your CPU, would you?

As monkeyman ( saru = monkey in japanese :D) already said, it's the ATI driver that causes the crash. I saw that downgrading to catalyst 7.7 helped some people, did you try that already?

I don't know if ZA already fixed their problems, but i don't recommend using it for reasons like not being able to handle many simultaneous connections (P2P) etc. Comodo firewall has served me well so far.
