What is the point of this CB?

Ok, before you tear into me with a vengeance, I don't mean "What is a CB", I know what a CB is and I've participated in a few. What I meant to say was, what was the point of THIS CB ? I know the rank and file answer is "To find glitches and bugs"... but I don't think thats the case. Think about it... 4 hours after the CB is the OB, unless we have some magical cure-all to every glitch and bug, I think the "OB-version" is going to basically be a transcription of the CB.

So what is the point of this CB? Was it to simply give people a taste and delete all the fast levelers? Or was it to say that the game had a CB and that way delete CB and say that they have an OB? I don't get it. :(

-Yours,
Dr .Bean

I really think it's mainly to stress-test the servers and see how well the translation goes over with the fans.

Well, I hope the translation part is true...

Hmmm who knows? Maybe give new players a flavour of the game before open beta; after that people will start to take the game more seriously. A chance for the community to...socialize..grow, spread the word. That's all I can come up with atm.

Thats a good question, but I guess they needed to be 100% sure there wasnt any major bugs.
Because now they know the game is 100% bug-free; just imagine what would of happen if they just go OB and its full of bugs, everyone would be bitching right now.

100% bug-free? How about patcher not patching for many people, the installer bitching about files that aren't corrupted? I count it to "game bugs" too. Even though i didn't have any problems on 3 of my PCs, thank god, i can imagine how all the people who did have probs feel.

If that happens in OB... PW-Intl will most likely lose players.
So, this CB was a test run with a limited amount of people to stress-test the servers and to see what problems with installation/game will happen. Now i hope most of the issues get fixed.

Honestly, i think the installer & patcher of PW suck. I made myself my own installer, but i can't replace the patcher, obviously.
PW has been endless frustration for me #2

To test bugs and glitches and such. To see that everything works.
Not to mention to try out diffrent builds and have new players learn a bit about the game before they start (mess with builds and armor and classes).

Small hole in this. The amount of CB Licenses is no were near what whould be considered a "Limited Amount" I mean even as CB started you could still get a license and play. In all aspects this CB was almost an OB already, the only really qualifying definitions that keep it a CB is they are going to wipe character data and OB won't need licenses.

This closed beta seemed to be more for a stress test / Marketing promotion / Market testing. The fact that it shrunk from 1 month to a few days means all 3 passed with flying colors, at least to what should be expected.

Really got to face it, no program is ever perfect and all will always a form of definition that would be considered a "Bug" because it was unexpected but is working right to the code that the developer building it just completely missed the mark on what it is ment to do.

That's one thing i didn't like about this "CB". If there had been less keys available, the devs wouldn't been able to stress-test the servers properly, but at least there would be less people asking for rewards... he...he...:o
