Game interface issues/suggestions

An issue I had with the My-en version of Perfect World was that the way buffs were displayed/monitored was horribly flawed. Buffs appeared as icons with no tooltip information other than their skill name. There was no timer to track the time until said buff expires. There was no indication of the buff's level. Worse even, if a stackable buff (hot/dot) was applied, with subsequent applications during it's effective time, as soon as the first application wore off the icon would dissapear, regardless of how many other applications were still active. The fact that you couldn't know how many stacks an effect had was icing on the cake. I haven't tested this but I'm pretty sure it affected regular, non-stacking buffs at times.

Another issue was how healing was handled. There was no floating-number display for heal values. And in the case of the regeneration heal, you had no ideea of how many stacks of it are active (see buff display), how much it heals per tick, and the only way to find out the total heal value was to do the maths yourself every time you leveled the skill/upgraded your weapon. As such, healing depended on lots of guesswork, gut feeling and experience, forcing priests to waste mana on rebuffing before every boss fight, to be safe, and spam heals with no indication of how good or bad they are performing, especially in multi-priest groups.

In short, I know this might be impossible as it probably hinges on the Chinese developers, but I would suggest the following improvements:

- Floating numbers for healing spells and effects.
- Including healing values in the combat log.
- Enhanced tooltips for buffs, including remaining time and skill level.
- Accurate display of stackable effects, including number of stacks.

I know it's early for this issue as CB hasn't started yet, so if it has already been handled, I apolgise for my redundant post.

I would give you a "1337 badge" for overall intelligence and coolness, but I don't have a 1337 badge because my cat ate it.

So I'll give you a choice between:

    A handshake
    A pat on the back
    A hug
    A pepsi
    A glass of chocolate milk
My cat with the 1337 badge in it
    Or
My credit card with $3000 of debt in it.

    Seriously - great post.

... Oh, yeah. This is my 100th post. Yay me.

Can I flame you like crazy just so the mods will look at this so that they can see your idea?

Shameless bump to ensure that this will be seen! Would be great if those ideas would be taken care of. I guess a huge amount of players would love that.

I'll take that one, thank you very much! -steal-

And I agree with the OP. :3
Of course one needs to see how long time there's left on the buffs and such. o:

If you're who I think you are, Junk, RQ'd like to have you. Celes is with us now, too.

Yes, it's me, thanks for the invite. Though right now there's no way I could tell if I suck at PvP or not; I didn't even attempt much in My-en due to terribad lag and PvE spec. But if my PvP build turns out good, Europe isn't IP banned and I end up not failing I'd be happy to join you guys.

I was just about to post about this. There definitely needs to be buff timers and and explanations on exactly what the buff is doing to you...
