In depth look at the item mall

I know this wont be 100% accurate on this version, But I wanna hear what people who have played other versions of this game think of the way they run the item mall.

First off Id like to say that Personally I find most item mall games a complete rip off, I could write a 8 paragraph reasoning to why the item mall is in the end more expensive than pay 2 play if you ever wanna be competitive at higher levels, But I won't because I already did on the RoM forums once today and my wrist hurts...

Secondly, SOME item mall games actually make good use of it. Like FAIR prices for FAIR items. Example, Exteel, Its not a MMORPG its a Online shooter, But with 20 dollars you can easily play Exteel about 3-4 months easily without missing any kind of crucial or serious benefits. I like this kind of item mall. A item mall where lets say.. a exp booster costs you around 5 bucks, for 20% bonus exp for 30 days. An item mall where Lets say renting a mount will cost 5 bucks a month.

(Especially) an item mall where they don't make class abilities linked to item mall items, In other words you must use the item mall in order to use some of your characters abilities. (this is the biggest scam of all)

So From the other versions of this game, Does the item mall seem to you guys that it is at a fair price?

Decent price for a decent service is all I am asking. I don't want to spend more money on a Free 2 play game than I normally would on a pay 2 play game (15 dollars/mo) in order to stay competitive(not the best) at the top of the charts. I also don't have 50 hours a week to play, So It needs to have a good balance.

Any examples of the other versions prices or the way they run things here would be great, I want to know if this game's item mall will be one of the few non rip off decent price item malls that you can get by only spending 10 bucks a month at the end game periods while playing casual, or if its one of those rip off Korean item malls that you spend 30 bucks a month if you play casual to stay competitive at high levels.

You cannot say it's a rip off, until you know what the price exchange for ZEN <-> USD.

If it's 1 to 1, then yes, it is a big rip off... if it's 1 ZEN = 10 cent USD then it's not so bad :)

Yea I agree that in PW-MY some of the items are just way too expensive to get. The wings I wanted were.... 30$ real money just to have enough to get one set of wings.
I really hope it is a little more affordable when the OB starts.

Jesus 30 dollars for a pair of wings!?! thats insanely overpriced. Those wings better give you like a permanent stat bonus and the ability to turn invisible for that kinda cash.

Rest assured that the Cash Shop will be a critical component of your Perfect World gaming experience from Open Beta and onward. It may not launch at the same time as our Open Beta release but we hope to have it up and running shortly after.

The wings are permanent IIRC but you can drop them if you die in PVP.

I'll confirm this. I killed a certain 'someone' and got a pretty pair of Seraph's Wings.

Man with that being said right there, you would need to pay money to get damn good at the game. Why don't you guys just do an optional monthly subscription plan with exp bonuses and cheap item mall stuff for the freebies. Because looks like once again the paying players who happen to have Daddy's credit card will be able to outrank, out level, and out skill a free player.

Because most likely that would not be enough of a rip off, They can get up to 100 dollars a month from some people off this people who probably dont realize or try to find cheeper pay 2 play games. I have no problem using a cash shop as long as I can get fairly well by only spending 15 dollars a month on it and not having to grind more than the grind from 1-70 in WoW is.

Rake in the cash, especially first week of OB, as if this game worldwide hasn't cashed in by now, they could at least tone down the item mall items. $30 for wings is indeed a rip off, but I didn't check to see if some of these items are permanent basis, or had a timer.

Idk how you can make this thread in all honesty.

The Item Mall you are seeing in the CB isnt even the final version and there is several items missing from it.

Wait till OB and official launch of the item mall, then we'd have something to complain over/praize.

That's for PW-MY version. PWI might be different.

MIGHT be...but how many free 2 play mmorpgs have you tried that the cash shop actually feels like you got your money's worth out of it?

let me correct something i didnt say in my last post on here mounts, wings, fashion is all permanant. now when u buy XP scrolls they last 1 hour. Heiros last until they are completely out of HP or MP just depends on how u use it. Carry pots with you and your heiro will last longer.

Just as long they don't put items that'll give you stats or atk power or something off-balance a player towards an advantage. Otherwise I don't give a rat's **** about fashion or mounts for that matter. :)

I don't ether,(about simple cosmetics) mount I do care But Still If there was like exp scrolls or something that I would normally buy off a games cash shop, And they had prices like those even if only for cosmetics it would really make me think twice about giving them my money. 2 pairs of Wings according to the prices and with that same money I could buy an tournament level magic the gathering deck (custom built) at abugames. Or even a full video game for my 360.

There are the dragon balls that guarantees 100% success in refining gears.

A weapon +5 almost double the damage of +0. An armor +5 gives lots of HP bonus compared to armor +0.
These are the items that will off-balance the game for paid customers and non-paid.

I wonder if those items you mention that gives +5 to something, will stack with a regular in-game item. That would be both good and bad...

I just can't honestly belive what im hearing. Cash shop items that are not only super overpriced Unbalance the game AND drop from you in pvp. When I first saw Requiem's cash shop at first I figured it was a bit overpriced just a bit...but after this it sounds like a bargain!

Also there's gotta be a flip side to all this right? Not just the items being tradable thats not good enough to justify the prices said so far. There's gotta be something else to it right?

The dragon balls are horrible items that should never have been considered. Also, I've heard that in foreign versions of PW you can craft HP heirograms... Not with as much charge as the heirograms from cash shop, but that do the same job with less charge. I wish we could craft those.

Well you don't HAVE to pay. You only pay if you feel like it. Of course if you do you are going to get an advantage. Why else would you give them money?

Hahaha, Requiems cash shop was a steal, by far the cheapest cash shop I ever seen, I never broke over 15 bucks in 2 months since that game is out. TQSoft, the company that owns Eudemons Online has a cash shop that charges an arm and a leg. I remember my roommates spending 400 dollars a month on coins and cash shop items.

As long as its not ever needed to upgrade a character to do the end game, To use any character skills or to pvp, I would not mind I guess. But if any of those things are cash shop fixed id be back to Requiem faster than you can say Korean grind fest.

Did you ever ask your friend why he just didn't move to one of the many other Free 2 play games out there...with lesser priced cash shops?

Nah these guys were hardcore MMO gamers, they sold their WOW accounts for 2k a piece during Burning Crusade expansion, started over and releveled to 70 again using cash shop items and ingame items being sold for real money to be the best.

No one would get pass +5 without Dragon Ball. And it's all planned out, this game is about Item Mall. You can't play this game free, well actually you can. Just work hard and buy Zen from players. Anyway, 100% refining items will always be implemented if the fail rate is epicly low. The chance of you getting a +5 item from just using Mirage Stone is almost up to 0.06%.
