Element.data wont dl?

Everytime i try to update it gets stuck on Element.data...the first time i tried to update it was at 12-1:30am and now its 9:03am...so basically i waited 6 hours to download this for nothing and as of right now its a waste of HD space. Help?

    I also have the same problem hehe. Luckily it's only closed beta so I'm not that worried about it. I'm sure they will fix it before obt.

    The problem is caused because a lot of people are downloading the patch.

    Just keep automatic patching on and it will download in time.
    I don't use a signature.... I'm just cool like that!:cool:

    Eh... I don't think that is quite the problem. My other friends had no problem with downloading it.

    But again, it's closed beta so I'm not worried about it that much. There will be a fix in time xD

    try openning your patcher and clicking "verify". That should fix any file that might cause the update to freeze.

    Are you on Vista? I am on Vista and I changed my desktop shortcut to Administrator. I had the same problem and It fixed it right away.

    i meant the poster above me.. well, another idea, are you using a restricted account maybe? if yes, try running it with admin privileges

    I runed patcher.exe as administrator, it gives no change.

    Oh, and I already had visual c++ latest version, same goes for DirectX.

    I re-installed visual c++, after that updating seemed to work.

    I'm thinking it's something on their side. I have the PH and MY versions installed and I can patch them fine.

    Yeah i have that client too and it works fine...im trying Logans idea about updating visual C++ right now and guys....IM HAVING WITHDRAWLS!! ive never gone without pw for so long T_T (jk)

    what did you do?

    so far i've:

    reinstalled PW-International 4 times
    checked my system specs, all updated drivers/files (DX9.0c)
    temporarily disabled firewall
    verified files during install...all passed

    i cannot verify on the PW patcher screen (verify button fails)...also am i supposed to be able to click the server names? the cursor turns into a hand, but it doesn't click

    oh, and when it asks if i want to continue..

    should i say "continue from previous update" or should i restart the update completely? any difference in success?

    ok...nevermind...sure i mean...i got past elements.data but now its stuck on tasks.data. i sware to god this thing hates me.

    haha, don't worry...i know how it feels.

    my patcher has been up and running (and failing) for about...14 hours so far...

    that darn patcher just can't get past elements.data

    My updater doesn't even get there.
    Mine is stuck on buff_str.txt for atleast 4 hours.
    I might try installing a new Visual C++, but i think i have the latest already.

    I know it sucks, but i never expected a beta to be perfect :) so i can live with it.


    30 seconds later he suddenly went to the next file only to get stuck on console_cmd.txt ...

    element.data.....This is getting very tiering. It goes half way sometime then I get error, reset and it's back to 0% for element.data.

    This is unbelievable.

    I tried updating under windowXP which i had also installed and had no problems at all. It got past everything within 30 seconds.

    I'm gonna try it out now

    I can't get past server_patch.txt. The bar fills up, then window pops up saying some error or ****, asks if I want to retry, and does it anyway. :\

    been playing for 30 minutes now without any problems

    BTW:
    i launched the patcher from the directory K:\Program Files\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International\patcher\
    maybe you can try to update that way too (K should be your hard-drive you installed on)

    i tried patching it directly from that directory as well...doesn't work either.

    well, at least now my elements.data fully loads (yellow bar fills up), but then the error message pops up and asks if i want to retry....which then pretty much restarts all that progress i've made.

    this is getting really annoying

    My elements.data loaded too... Maybe it's a sign of progress? I'm still stuck on tasks.data though.

    So maybe they've fixed the elements one... And hopefully they'll fix tasks.data next. I hope they've figured something out...

    Just jumping in to say I too am having the same issues...

    Windows Media Center Ver. 2002 - Service Pack 3
    All windows updates are in and in good order including c++ and direct X
    Verification of files completed
