Seriously, the community can't take a split. This is not WoW, and 2k-ish players per server won't cut it. No server should ever have less than 5k players on it at any time.
All that's needed is 1 pve server and 1 pvp server. MAYBE 2 PVE servers, but I seriously doubt so many will be needed.

Hell, the whole reason we had this pve vs pvp argument is about keeping the server population large. Towns should be packed, leveling areas should not be populated by only mobs..

    Ambition supports this thread.

All PVPers are encouraged to go to Lost City, splitting us up will kill the game and competition.

I like the pve/pvp split, it divides what the different groups want to get out of the game and can only help them. I do find it odd that they split the servers before OB, I hope they get a good enough stress test, or maybe thats why they did it.

Actually i think 4 servers is a good idea, maybe not for CB or early OB but im guessing that this game will be big. I know that atleast 8k CB keys have been given out which is alot. I think this game even with 4 servers will have a fairly large population.

I'm fine with 4 servers. Lost City will be very populated, and as such, I don't care about the other servers.

10k keys = barely enough for 2 servers.

5k players for one server is a MINUMUM. Ideally, there should be around 8-9k players on at peak, and no less than 5k at odd hours. 4 servers is bulls***.

I have to agree. Especially since it looks like if you're on the west coast you can't play on the "east cost" servers? Am I getting that right?

Honestly.... worse choice ever. I've played with the same group of friends for a long time (over a decade now) however, most of them live on the east coast... I can't play with them now. That turns me off. If it stays this way I doubt I'll play.

However, if I'm wrong and there is some way we can choose which set of servers to play on, then I care slightly less. Though still, it would be a pain if there were only 5k people per server. Be worse than eq2 in it's decline.

did you click on the east or west tabs above the server options to choose which server to use ?

i logged on from the UK and could choose eaither east or west

Personally i think 4 servers could well be needed once the game is up and running properly

I am not one of the people who wants to wait in a queue or camp for days to fight a boss mob like some games

Plus if its anything like todays rudeness with the timed quests where people constantly queue jumped to open the chest in the beast city which made a lot of people angry I think the more servers the better

Oh, no I hadn't. Actually I didn't even see it. Hmm thanks! I'll check it and see if it works. So long as I can still play with my friends I'm happy.

Should always start out with minimum servers, and then get more if needed. Starting out with four and then knowing you screwed the population over and then having to merge is a lot more complicated. Starting areas should always be packed on a server opening, and for a timed quest like the jump quest in each starting area will always be full the first few days. Doesn't matter if you have two, four or six servers. Its down the road that matters, and two will be the best for TW and overall PvP. More people means more attacks with more action every week. Lower population means one guild can dominate over the rest of the server much easier.

As far as I can tell, there's one PVE and one PVP per coast, with the PVE ones being offline right now. Seems fine to me. Or what did they do, put the PVP on one side and PVE on the other?
