I am a vet in mmorpgs so normally I will be ok :p
But I hate rerolling so I better ask beforehand:

I love 2H melee with magic. I saw that the Barbarian is closest to my play style. Only the fact I read: low dmg... concerns me alot :s

Also the name barbarian is badly chosen : a barbarian is a dmg dealing class normally not a tank :)

    Barbarian:
Tank. Uses dual-axes or on occasions poleaxe (rare). Low dmg, high pdef, highest HP, high repair cost, high pot/hiero cost.
Not much 'magic' mostly physical skills

What I wanted to know was: low dmg = not a dmg dealer at all ? :(

It's all relative; barbarian's aren't just novelty tanks.
Wait till you've tried them before you decide for sure~

Yeah I agree, Barbarians are supposed to go on a rampage and destroy everything berserk style, so it doesnt really fit

But anyway, they dont really shine until lvl 89... Ill explain it quickly

They have the tiger transform skill which increases movement speed and HP but reduces dmg, thats why they can tank but do low dmg, but at lvl 89 you get to chose heaven/hell path, and if you go hell, you can get the Dark Tiger skill which makes you do normal dmg, so you get all the tanking abilities PLUS dmg, I assume they will kick big amounts of **** then

But do you want to base your char on a lvl youll probably never reach? ^^ Thats the question

morning all, the "low damage" reference is kind of an off set because the other classes use different techniques for high damage Archers and "Blademasters" use dex which is low dmg but high crit and your mage and "venomancer" use a very high int build which is high dmg AND high crit. The way you build your Barbarian can go a few different ways, you can go con build which will be a tank at low levels as well as high levels, you can go str build which makes you a great DD(Damage Dealer), on my Oracle character I used about a 4-1 str-dex ratio until higher levels when I put more into dex which gives me a few paths to tread. Or if you set it up right you can do both tank and DD + PvP. The choice is yours, my name is BrimStone and I approve this post;)
    BrimStone - lvl72 WB - Oracle

    Apocolypse - lvl1 WB - ?????????

If you spec right, Barbarians can be deadly + they are the main tanks in any instance (PVE).

Barbarians get the highest HP in the game and physical defense. Their DPS is low but they have a skill that sacrifices HP for DAMAGE that is the highest spike damage skill in the game. They can deal tons of damage with it in PVE and PVP(talking about enough damage to 1hit people and its AOE). Their moving speed is slow when they are humanoid form but when they are tiger form they run pretty fast so they aren't that easy to kite. They have low accuracy but they have a skill that makes them sacrifice 15% of HP and they get triple accuracy making them have the even higher accuracy than blademaster just with a few points put in to Dex(i think 1 Dex per level is more than enough). Barbarian isn't easy class to play but it's worth the effort and is good in PVP and PVE(specially end game). Good luck and most importantly enjoy the game!!
