Blocking MY-EN players/IPs?

Would it make sense to block those IP's?

I had a friend ask me and I dont have the answer.

What would be some good and bad things if they blocked the people from MY-EN to join the Int/NA version?

Only thing I could think of is the MY-EN (Emos/Epeeners) that would get a head start because they know everything already and thus the true new players (from Euro/US) would fall way behind.

I can see a gank-fest againts Euro/US players incoming since they are the "true" newbies.

What are your thoughts on the "Good, Bad and Ugly" for the PW/INT release? :D

Jesus Christ, there is a stickied FAQ and a search function for a reason.
    So, go investigate.

But for a quick answer, no countries will be blocked. ;)

they're banning people from certain countries.

i don't think they're going to be able to get the IP addresses of people who have ever played that version of game (people from USA are in that category too btw) and take them and chuck a ban on them all.

    so yeah.

So next time, before you go off on someone, might want to look it up yourself instead of looking stupid.

Banning people who are/have already played on the MY-EN server would be stupid.

    - they cannot afford to loose any customers.

    - it would be impossible to know who played there and who did not.

    - banning players one by one would take forever. And some are not on static IP, so banning them would be complicated.

    - you'll be happy to have some in your guild to give you pointers as to how to do certain things in this game.

    - no matter what you do, there will always be players who will play more than others/level faster than others.

Isnt this a Free to play game.

    INT or MY-EN
what the hell.... i think its really
dumb to be blockin people just
cus they are from a diffrent country.

i know a few friends, who got blocked
on MY-EN and they are like 50+
    they worked thier butt off
and get banned in the end cus
    of thier country?

I agree. Atm i play MY-EN and done for some while now. Suddenly its announced that an internationel version of the game is under development. So, it would really be a big mistake to block ppl from the MY-EN version

Q : Will there be IP blocks for some countries?
A : Any country that currently has licensed Perfect World will be blocked. This includes Malaysia, Philippines, China, Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, and others. (Xarfox)

Why would it be a big mistake?

Thousands of new players are ready to jump into the Int/Us version. Just curious why it would be a big mistake?

    *facepalm*
they are not blocking people from my-en, they are blocking IPs of regions that had their official version at the time PW-intl was announced (thus no block for EU). If you are living in a region that already has an official version, you won't be playing here.

Before you start whinning and moaning, it's Perfect World Beijing that decided it, so no, it won't change.

Noone is whining or moaning, just trying to get some facts (which were answered). I see alot of people from MY-EN quitting thinking they will be playing the Int version, but it seems (depending on their region) they may not be able to.

I know Euro people will play, not concerned with them at all ;)

Yeah, blocking IPs is inconvenient to players, but it's needed to regulate the traffic of servers in different countries. If there weren't IP bans, certain servers would be overcrowded while others would fail from a lack of players.

They are blocked for economical reasons.

Bejing PW Co is getting it's share on everything sold in the cash shop. That's true for all the various versions of the game (Malaysia, Viet-Nam, Russia, name it)

So it's in their best interest that none of these versions suffer from the opening of another server. That's why most PW servers have IP blocks to prevent outsiders and/or players from countries who have their own servers to connect to theirs.

Cubinet's servers don't have IP blocks against other countries because they paid an extra to not have to enforce such IP Blocks.

Some people may not have read or may have done a search and not found what they were looking for. Not everyone has as many posts as you or have read every thread and reply on these forums.

Instead of trying to act all "Epeen", maybe try to help people in a nicer way. Your **** stinks as much as everyone elses.

Post count doesn't have anything to do with this
i'm not acting "Epeen" either. i'm just tired of seeing threads about the same topic every day.

the search function is there to be used before posting a new thread. is it that hard to enter "IP block" into the search field? no.
If some people are too lazy to do that, they have to expect a not-so-nice reply from people who see those threads everday. Simple as that.

the time between my post and the edit is the time it took me to get what you meant by your last line. Ha-ha. congratulations on your failure. Even though it says germany on my location doesn't mean i'm german. that's no.1. And by trying (and failing) to insult me, you broke one of the forum rules (not that i care). that's no.2
try your best to flame me better next time. oh wait, you're on my ignore list... i guess that makes it no.3

    have a nice day.

They are banning countries with a PW server not people who have played on another PW server. First of all that is close to impossible unless they somehow have been spying on everyone's IP logging into the Malaysian servers. Second that was never part of the contract because it has nothing to do the company servicing players outside the agreed territories - specifically saying, NA and EU players from MY-PW are from NA and EU, duh, and are not exempt from the PWI service. Third, even if they have played it before doesn't mean they will be better than everyone else - new players just have to adjust to the game's controls and learn the quests. Give or take two to three characters during CB and OB NA and EU players who have never played PW before should be able to catch up - unless of course you are referring to abysmal intelligence that we cannot do anything about.

Well, I for one only recently found out about Perfect World, started playing on the MY-EN servers about a week ago - then one day someone tells me there's a Perfect World International version coming and they're about to go into Beta release. With less than a week's playtime spent on the malaysian version I don't see why I shouldn't switch to the International version and be able to enjoy a better translation, better service and a faster ping.

As for blocking IP's, from what I read they'll only block IP's from those countries that currently already fall under the localization of one of the other PW versions - this has nothing to do with the IP's of people who have ever played one of the other PW versions. Besides, even aside from the fact that blocking specifically those IP's would be a hellish task, it would be a truly dim thing to do. If you look closely at the poll on the main page, you'll notice about 20-25% of players came to PW international after playing one of the other versions already. That's a major chunk of potential playerbase they'd be blocking. ;)

If you have a local PW, like they do in MY and a whole bunch of other Asian countries, then you're blocked from this one. So if you're from MY, then you're out of luck, and will have to stick to MY-EN. I really doubt it's going to be much of a loss for business here. Most who are local--for example, ACTUALLY MALAYSIAN--to MY-EN want to stay there.

Though I have to agree that SOMEONE (OK, make that half of the users in this thread) here should have read the FAQ. This question was very clearly answered in it, and it would have actually taken longer to make this thread than to scan the damn FAQ for the answer! Some people...

You sure had to type alot to explain your reasoning there (which you seem to keep repeating over and over) and we all know the story of the dead horse.
Do you need confirmation of approval from the community to make your statements sound "smart"?

I already let it go and took my chill pill, I guess it's just the anticipation building up eh?

Take some chill pills and give it a rest already. No need to tear your hair out about it.
