Character Deletion over time?

I tried searching but i couldn't find it, /shrug maybe I'm just bad at searching but..

I was wondering when the game goes live do characters stay forever or do they get deleted if they aren't played for a certain amount of time or something like that?

    Hmm... I also want to know. :D I've never heard of account deletion due to inactivity in a MMO before? So, I conjecture it won't happen here either? My vote is for stay forever!

    Many many MMOs delete inactive accounts to clean up the database.
    I hope PW will only purge accounts that got permbanned for hacking and the like, even if a real user has been inactive years you never know when he may be back.

    i hope the only character deleting will be when closed beta ends :)

    Well, in the other versions of PW characters don't get deleted if you're inactive. I'm 99.9% sure it will be the same here.

    i have played many games and the only thing that ive seen is its about 6 months to a year before they delet and its usualy because of a large update. but they only delet old carecter info not the accounts. i still have my diablo account >.< and its been 5 years. also i stil have my neopet and thats about 9 years but thats a bad example.

    well the main reason i ask because I've never played the other versions so are they all the same as in they are all free to play? This game being F2P was the main reason for me asking about character deletion because in all the MMO's that i have played they don't delete your chars but there is also an subscription fee.

    well I would imagine the account would be permanent but in Diablo if you didn't play a char after awhile it became inactive and is deleted or rather unplayable again.

    actualy its deleated but if you look in your game sub files you have a carecter fast memory so if you loaded diablo on another computer then the fast carecter files are not there so you dont see any carecters in your account ^_^

    well i hope they dont delete inactive players:( im usually on and off due to my random scedule ~_~

    itl probably be a few months before they delet inactive carecters i just cheaked my hero online account and i still have my carecters from 4 months ago. :)

    i know for a fact if our chars get deleted on this after all the time we have spent testin the game out and you think of all these high lvl people and many people spending lots of money on guild i dont think it will be very nice if the gms delete our chars and i know if they delete my chars i wont come back to the game and many other people wont come back either many people have already quit becuse they think there chars is going to be deleted

    I've never known a MMORPG to delete accounts because of inactivity but there's one rumor for a different game that over 6 month of never logging in and your account will be deleted, they'll even send an email prior to the deletion.

    It's stated in ToS that your account gets deleted after 1 year of inactivity. (Too lazy to find it now)

    keep in mind that this doesn't necessarily mean we will auto-delete characters inactive for more then a year but that we have the option of doing so if we choose.
