I know a lot of you guys and gals have heard of people playing online games with their PS2/Xbox controllers (especially WoW... pfft, nerds :p). Well you can now do it to :D

This particular program only works with any controller, but if you have problems with it, you can try to use Joy2Key.

Anywho, what you need to do first is download Xpadder.

Xpadder does not work with a wireless controllers.

http://www.xpadder.com/

You don't need to install, it is a file that runs on its own.

After you're done, open up Xpadder and click the little controller icon. A drop-down menu will appear, click New... (http://i35.tinypic.com/2n1s5r8.jpg) You have to register each of your triggers/buttons/joysticks/d-pads in each tab. You can move the buttons around and even rename them (only the buttons, not the joysticks/triggers/d-pads). I tend to move them around so it looks like the controller I'm using.

If anyone is interested, here is my layout:

http://www.mediafire.com/?pkdj9vy2ibc

You download that (it should be Perfect World.xpaddercontroller). You can put it anywhere and open it with Xpadder, but I prefer to keep them in the same folder.

I'll update with screen shots later if a ton of people are having problems.

This particular program only works with an Xbox 360 controller, but I'm sure you can find an emulator for any controller you want. And if all else fails, you can use Joy2Key.

Anywho, what you need to do first is download SwitchBlade.

    http://www.switchbladegaming.com/

Then you install it, blah blah blah.

After you're done, open up SwitchBlade and select any game. Doesn't matter, really. Click the Customize Controls tab. You can then set all the Xbox 360 controllers to what you want them to emulate on your keyboard/mouse.

If anyone is interested, here is my preset:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?3zmfnchebbm

You download that (it should be ROFLTEST3.preset) and put it in your SwitchBlade "Saves" folder. Default is "C:\Program Files\SwitchBlade\Saves".

I'll update with screen shots later if a ton of people are having problems.

The real question is will this be easier than wasd/click?

I find it easier. This is really the first time I used an Xbox 360 controller too.

How do you use 20+ hotkeyed skills/pots?
    Seems difficult to me.

Move with the controller, hotkey your most important on SwitchBlade, and click the ones you don't use as often with the controller. You get used to it :p

It makes it easier if you move all your skill bars close to each other and make the pop out so you have all 3 showing at the same time.

Well I always have done that lol >.>

Usually I use 2 big ones and 2 little ones.
Stacked like a pyramid under my character.
I guess if you got used to it that would work, But it seems wierd to me.

It's the same thing, but you can use it for any controller. Actually, I think it's better. Editing my first post to switch out programs :p

You can. It would just be extremely hard. I saw a guy playing WoW with a Wii controller one time. Let me see if I can't find the video.

If you used a controller to walk around, then you can switch back and forth between controller & mouse/keyboard any time you want. You don't need to press a special button or anything.

I'd do this, but when your in a Dungeon, or bossing it for example, don't you think it's a little weird when your: Doing skills, MP/HP pots, Clicking? And moving ect ect.

And when your in tight spots like that, you'd also need to talk, I know that's already been run across, but isn't it a tad weird. Of course you CAN get the messenger Xbox360 pad.

All's im saying is it's the kind of thing you do when your not in Dungeon runs or Boss battles.

It'd just end in disaster... BUT when your doing simple quests, or grinding... Nothing for the big jobs!

    =D

    Thanks.

When im running dungeons or HH ill probably use my keyboard unless im with the guild and were all on vent anyways so we can communicate. Otherwise when im soloing ill probably use my controller if i like it :).

Yeah, it's fun to solo with, but PvP and partying require the keyboard and mouse. Unless you got really good. In that case, you have too much time on your hands.

Has anyone gotten this to work? I have everything set up with a 360 controller, and it will even work with other games, but the moment I launch PW, my controller stops working.

but.. why would u want to do this? Isn't it 10x worse than using a keyboard?

Next step: playing PW with a steering wheel and pedals =P
