I dont wanna that the clien comes the 19th or 2days befor, becasue if that hapens the people who has the best connection will get client 1st, and the 1st char names!!!
So pls ADMINS make the client avalible at least 5days befor the CB!!!

If its goin to take you 2-3 days to download... your goin to be havin some MAJOR lag :eek:

and, even if you edit the client from another region to connect to the IP address of PW-Ints servers... your client may not be running the same version as the server, let alone the cash shop using same currency (damn, my cash shop takes Cubigold - but i can only trade Zen at the AH) ...

Yeah, anyway. Beating a dead horse here, but latency is the delay within network medium being NIC Card, Modem, Router, and Switches.

The more of these mediums it has to pass through depending on the configuration of each could result in higher latency. The latency is a result of these mediums performing CRC checks and other data redundencies to ensure the data going from location A to location B is not corrupted.

Bandwidth does happen to play a role in latency, but ultimately it's the devices they pass through and how each device is configured that will effect your overall latency. In the case of the dialup, as long as the medium is in perfect condition then any old 56kbps could easily pass 3-4KB to the server. However a 56kbps Modem starts creating latency issues if it has to pass above about 7KB, because now it's having to break data into manageable windows for the Modem (In this case the modem is creating the latency issue).

However between a 10Mbps line and a 56Kbps line passing anything under 7KB you'll get equal performance for the same number of hops through medium configured the same with cabeling in perfect condition. This is generally the whole idea of a Server program and Client program, they are similar programs but the server manages the syncronous actions that each client sends of very small bytes and responds to the clients on what the result was also in small bytes.

That's generally the challenge too with Server and Client. You have to determine what can the client be trusted to handle on it's own and what should it not be doing. Also what is reasonable to have the server controlling.

Anyway back to the point, if you have a 10Mbps connection or better it doesn't always mean you'll outperform someone. It does mean you'll download files faster then them because a larger window size can be sent but with data small enough you are not getting lower latency then someone on a 56Kbps connection. You're equals in that manner.
