IP question

this got buried in another thread & i'm curious to know the answer...

another question comes to my mind when discussing IP blocks/bans...

i personally don't know how to run a bot program, but have spent a good deal of time learning about those that do practice it. my concern is that most gold sellers run a 3rd party program & do so with a proxy such as webcafe (for example), thus avoiding their own IP address from being detected.

how will this behavior be deterred? & what exactly, will stop anyone from gaining access from just about anywhere?

We have looked at this issue quite seriously, and have a sophisticated system in place to detour such activity in our game servers. Of course, hackers/botters evolve over time, and we here at Perfect World International will be closely following the situation and constantly putting new countermeasures in place.

We realize that these activities incur damage to not only gameplay but the game's economy, and will do everything in our power to prevent such from happening.

Considering how much time they devote to banning legitimate users, I sincerely have doubts about how they'll deal with real actual problems.

Didn't see any "legitimate" users being banned.
Maybe you should review the post(s) that got you banned mr. abused user.

I liked the system rapplez had with the "trap" monsters that if you kill them you get jailed/suspended. I guess it would be kinda hard to impliment here tho, and if you accidently lure them into a zhen it could turn ugly lol.

That other game had something similar, a monster with an insane def & attack, to kill off bots. It was just travelling across the whole map and if you attack it, it casts a slowdown & blind debuffs on you that last 5 mins and are not dispellable...

There are no perfect methods to deal with it.

But since those unskilled GMs fro MY-EN practically eliminated most bots from their servers, I have confidence those here will be able to do as well or even better.

(We are still waiting to see any improvements or changes beign implemented. More empty promises from PWI?)

I hope bots dont get out of control, if they do then this game is ruined. But let's hope for the best.
