Got a few questions about the cash shop ^^

Are cash shop items NEEDED to progress in the game?
How much would cash shop items HELP you progress in the game?

I ask because I've heard that they aren't mandatory and I've also heard that they're needed to complete parts of the game. Can someone please clarify about the cash shop? =]

Cash shop is never NEEDED in this game. But it does help to progress.

The only thing I bought on MY-EN was a faster flying tool, but I could very well have done without it. I'm lvl70 over there btw. It can sure help in many ways: exp scrolls to lvl up faster, HP or MP hierograms for instant recovery when HP/MP is dropping, materials for crafting (which you still can get ingame from mobs and mines), petrides faster than the horses sold ingame, etc.

A good part of the Cash shop is purely for fun though: fashion and dyes to customize appearance, fireworks (wheeee!)...

You can easily play this game without spending a single cent, but there is some interesting things in there. What I like is that there is no equipement. You can't buy a super-sword in cash-shop to own other people... there is none to be found. Same with armor. Equipment wise, a cash-shop user isn't better than one not using it. Well, he could if he sold many things from cash-shop to players, thus getting more gold and buying best weapons at auction. But you could probably afford one anyway, though with a bit more effort to get the gold.

Nice, that sounds pretty cool then. So to complete any dungeons or anything I won't have to spend money? Sounds cool.

How high is the price of this stuff anyways? (though I doubt I'd buy any of it)

Ah that is true.. I tend to love the fashion, but 1/2 of the time I buy it from vendors because I know what color the Fashion is and can preview it on me.

I like Hierograms too.. but because I am ignorant of the rule about killing one monster at a time, and apparently ignore the red names above their heads. And what can I say - I love mounts. My favorite to date is the Black Hawk for the WereBeasts.. WOW. But the wings are very nice (for Elf class). (Yes swords nice too - jus not my thing).

My favorite - was the Auction, one because I loved the bargans, and two because I loved the Divine items people (items made from molders).

I did think the bear speaker was cute -- but that is just 1 cubi and I got one from fighting back a red-pker named player and his teddy bear speaker dropped (- mine - ).

Oh and I paid for 2 weddings (mine). So guess that counted. (hehe)

No one knows, the game is not out yet.
I also think that you don't need the item shop to play this game, the item shop just makes it easier to play it, that's all

You don't NEED them, but Inventory Stones sure make life a lot easier. The default inventory space runs out quick. Having that extra room lets you stay out in the field longer.

nope it is totally not needed if you go berserker your transformation form runs as fast as a mount so u wont need a mount. if you are a elf when u are lvl 54 you can make your lvl 1 elf wings 2.0 ( which is fast max speed is 2.5 for flying) so elfs dont need to buy faster wings. If you are a archer the elf wings will take mana out when you are flying, because archers don't add anything to intelligent.
well to fix this problem buy a equipment that as an additional 2 mana regeneration or more, with this they shouldn't consume mana when you fly any more:). When you are lvl 30 you get wings that don't consume mana for free but they are slow stick with your lvl 1 wings. as the game goes on you find out ways to get rich without item mall i suggest every1 crafts armor and weapons and do all their quest and DQs you will know what those are later:).
the maylasian server didn't allow me to buy item mall but i still got to lvl 87 and got every thing some 1 with item mall can get and even better, i had to work harder for everything though which wasn't bad but it made me feel better:D. also it is very important you start crafting at low lvls you will regret being lvl 60 and up and not being able to craft, with crafting you can make nice stuff and sell them for more gold than you made them for.

    Ahem
They will always create an item that is better than free stuff and the higher version of the client we get, the bigger the difference in speed will be ;)

People that say cash shop items are not needed are making a gross overstatement. There are class skills (Clerics' arrays, Archers' chanelled AoE) that CANNOT, under any circumstance, function without hierograms. Sure, you can get them indirectly from other players for ingame gold. However the point that the cash shop is an integral part of gameplay still stands. Also, the high difficulty of instance bosses means a hierogram-less tank will find himself rejected from most groups, while not having hierograms in teritorial wars renders you nigh useless.

The cash shop isn't a luxury. It's a necessity. Don't mislead new people who don't know what they're getting into.

You are wrong. I saw a lot of EP's which used special made potions instead of hierograms. It worked well. It's just more time consuming.

I just don't want the cash shop to create total inequality between those who are wealthy and those who are not. That's why i quit the last game i was playing.

If you want to PvP you have to buy hieros, that's a fact. You will definetely need CS items if you want to lvl fast, PvP, be useful in HHs/FBs/TWs ....
Oh and yes, AoEing is possible without hieros, but if you want to AoE you'll need dolls, since you will have to fight other players for AoE spots later ingame (you can't even fight back when someone attacks you or you will risk to drop items when you die)

Basically the guys who can afford to buy CS stuff > the people without CS suff, because:
    1. they can buy exp scrolls = they lvl faster
    2. they can buy hieros = they will beat you in PvP
    3. they can buy dolls, so they can PK whoever they want without any kind of penalty
    4. they can sell CS stuff = they will be rich and can afford to buy molders/HH EQ

Well most F2P games are like this, but I can't freaking understand why people turn pink when someone tries to PK them and they fight back... that's pure bs, the game is forcing you to buy dolls or you risk to drop items >_>

    aww that just sucks. for some people ;_;

and btw, how do the dolls work? does ONE doll render you invulnerable for any number of pks, or just ONE pk?
and how hard is it for new players to buy heirograms for gold? and do you need heirograms in plural, or will just one suffice forever?(i hear they restore you to full health if u hit 50% and have a 10 sec cooldown)

Hieros have a certain amount of health/mana pool that are drained to replenish your health/mana bar. This will cause the pool available in the hiero to drop by however many points was replenished. You can use the hiero until the pool is used up. Note that once you equip the hiero, it cannot be taken off.

I agree that cash shop items make things MUCH more pleasant in the game. However, if you do not wish to spend real life cash, you can always put in more effort in-game and buy Zen from other players through the auction house. I have a level 70+ Wizard in PW-MY and managed to obtain enough gold to fund whatever auction house items I needed (flying device, pet ride etc.) playing mainly on weekends only. So, it is not that hard to play without using real cash and still have the benefits of the cash shop items.

Wait, so I can buy cash shop items that people will sell through the AH?

If it's reasonably cheap I'll probably just do that tbh. I'm not spending 20 pounds on a doll so I don't lose virtual items when I'm PKd. That's just lame -.-

Being a kid means having near unlimited free time. I'll use the time to farm mats for the CS consumables I need.

Yes you can buy CS items in the AH with ingame money, you can even buy the CS currency directly.

It's not too expensive either, but kinda annoying since you will spend almost all of your money on hieros or exp scrolls (if you wanna lvl fast)

so a silver heiros thingy that i saw in my CS had a pool of some 525,000 mana(right?)... so it keeps refilling my mana until those 525,000 mana are used up? on an average how long does that take?

Depends on what class you are and whether you AoE or not.

there ARE items that ARE necessary in perfect world for players who really want to be involved in the community. you COULD argue that you can't play the game without them.

Fortunately, the PW economy is balanced, as gold dropped from mobs IS useful and is actually the currency for items.. the best way to earn gold is to donate and sale cash shop items.. you will almost always earn just enough (or almost enough) gold to buy a new hierogram by the time your old one runs out.. and if you find yourself having trouble funding your necessities (pots repairs and hieros) find a leveling partner (questing in groups is the fastest form of xp until 50 or so).. and pool your funds together. on my-en.. many guild groups that i was associated with leveled to 80 in record speed without donating for cash shop items but rather buying the items from donators
