A short guide that should teach new players all relevant functions of character creation in PW
(I) Creating a character
After logging in for the first time, you will see this character selection panel on the right side of your screen.
Press "create" to make a new character (1)
You will now see a default model of a character.
Select the class (and gender if possible) of the character you want to play
Press "customize" to start customizing your character (2)
You will now see the customization panel on the right side of your screen.
(II) Customizing a character
To customize your character, switch between the categories like "face", "hair" etc (3) to customize a certain part of your character.
Perfect world has a system that allows you to save and load character model parameters.
To load parameters
- click on one of the ini names (4).
To save parameters
- click on the "save setting" button (5).
You can also view a reference picture by clicking on the "View Picture" button.
When you have finished customizing your character, press "confirm" (6) to return to the class selection menu
Enter a name if you haven't already and press "create"
If your character name is not taken yet, your character will be created.
(III) Other info:
1. You can put your own reference pictures in .bmp format into the \element\userdata\userpic\ folder and view them while customizing your character
2. The .ini files are stored on your computer so you can back them up or copy from another server installation
- the directory \element\userdata\character\ contains .ini files with the last used parameters for each class
- the subdirectory \customize contains user saved .ini files
3. Layout of the \customize subfolder:
4. After creating your character, you can edit it's appearance within 48 hours since creation.
5. Remember: editing the .ini files manually is NOT allowed.

Thanks so much for the guide! I'm going to be playing this game as soon as the US beta comes out, and I decided that now is the time to start learning more about it. Although I'm curious too as to how many characters you can make on one account...?0

Nice work, but... What's the point in writing a guilde like that? If someone can't read, won't be able to read this thread as well, right? ~~0

Well, I am trying to make a character that looks like myself, so I need a reference picture.. problem is, I cannot find the folder in which these pictures go. I have found them in game, the ones already programmed into the game, so I know the folder is out there somewhere, but where?? I have Windows Vista, so could that be a problem??
The items in the 'Perfect World International' folder are as follows:
Background - File Folder
AutoRun - Setup Information
Check.md - MD File
CopyRight - Text Document
Data1.pck - PCK File
Data2.pck - PCK File
Data3.pck - PCK File
Data4.pck - PCK File
Icon - Icon
ij15.dll - Application Extension
Install - Application
Install - Configuration Settings
JPEGI.dll - Application Extension
Unicows.dll - Application Extension
Now.. where do I find the folder to put the reference picture I want..? Can anyone help, please!?
