If you can emulate a Windows environment, maybe.
Frankieraye said : "we can promise that we will work to improve all facets of community, engineering, and customer service to ensure that something like this doesn't happen again."

(We are still waiting to see any improvements or changes beign implemented. More empty promises from PWI?)

PW uses DirectX, and last time i checked, it's emulation under linux/mac is still slow, expecially the DX9 (which PW uses)

Last time i tried emulating it with WINE (linux) on a 2ghz dualcore , 2gb ram and a 8600 gt, it did run quite well fps-wise but there were too many graphic glitches.

    Gaming = Windows OS
Nothing changed about this and probably won't.
PW has been endless frustration for me #2

You will be best of if you can get a PC laptop instead on a mac laptop.

Don't let the PC fanatics with obsolete information about Macs tell you otherwise. The great thing that came out of Apples change to Intel processors is Boot Camp. You can take a MacPro with 8 CPU cores and 32GBs of RAM and turn it into the ultimate gaming rig by dual booting with Boot Camp. I have Vista and OS X running on my MacPro and I got several high-end games on there too, including PW.

So the answer is yes. You should probably do some research on how to setup Boot Camp before PWI is released. It's quite simple especially if you're familiar with partitioning.

Well, my guess the feature is already included but you still have to set up everything. Mine didn't come with BC included. You basically need to create a new primary partition and then install a Windows OS onto it. Boot Camp will take you through the steps, but you need to have some understanding of what you're looking at in regards to partitions. There are mini tutorials on how to do this if one isn't included. You can probably find this on YouTube or something. The procedure is extremely simple.

On a Macbook, I recommend installing XP. Unlike OS X Leopard, Vista is a resource hog and can't run smoothly on 512MB of RAM unless you get the **** versions such as the Starter edition.

You are absolutely correct, but not everyone has the money to buy 8 CPU cores and 32 Gigs of RAM just to build the ultimate gaming rig.

Yeah, a MacPro isn't cheap. Mine cost a total of $17,982.76. It's fully loaded to the nuts though. I know of several game developers who use high end MacPros to create their games for cross platforms. They're great for graphical and multimedia applications. Beautiful machines but costly. Maybe one day Apple will release OSX for PC and gather more revenue to reduce the cost of their hardware.

highly depends on what kind of memory that GPU has.
i have a laptop with almost the same specs (the CPU is 2 ghz) and my GPU has the older (and slower) GDDR2 memory. PW lags on max settings unless i turn off water effects. My friend has a 2.2 CPU and same GPU with GDDR3 memory, his laptop manages to run PW at max with little to no graphic lag:p

Yeah. I already got a car though. The Mac is more job related and extremely helpful for some of the work I do.

Yep. You're set. XP only requires 128MB RAM to run well. You should have no problem running PW on max settings. When making your partition for XP, keep in mind how much space you need for games and such.

Im running pw on my MBP, using Bootcamp to power up WindowsXP
works great, no problems at all, except for the noisy fan that turns on :/

I bought the cheapest MBP with no special upgrades to give u an idea of what specs are needed for this game. In general, the graphics card is the most important thing for gaming, despite what people say. Since the MBP has a Geforce 8600 GT, you're fine running pw on max resolution and on highest settings. Too bad the game does not support 1440*900 though :(

-sorry for reviving this old thread

    Hello,

Your MAc will come with boot camp and it si very easy to install, but you will need a full RETAIL copy of windows XP or a 32 bit version of Vista, both will run under boot camp.

What boot camp does for u is it makes 2 drives one for the mac OS and one for windows. Generally users have found that Windows runs ok under boot camp but not all the time. If you get the proper version of windows you should have no issue installing it and running.

My main caution for you is that you will be losing hard drive space to do this.

    Good Luck.

Macs are a rip off anyways, they're identical to pcs nowadays.
When you buy a mac, you pay a 50% markup price higher even than other ripoff prebuilts, just to use a prettied-up unix OS that can be **** to run on a pc anyways since they're practically the same these days

Don't buy a mac unless you're an ignorant rich boy who just wants to be different. Mac OS is not any more stable or secure than linux, and you still have to have windows installed on a mac if you want to game.

As for 8-core and 32gb... psh. Waste of money, nothing even supports quad threading hardly and 4gb of ram is all you should need for a while. Not to mention you can have that with a pc in 2009, or now with a server motherboard with 2 cpu sockets.
