    There are two different Natya Veda bosses. One is in the regular Dawnlight Hall instance (don't think it matters which mode) and one is a special version specifically made for the Neverfall quest line. Speak to Empress Althea outside Dawnlight Halls and she'll teleport you to a copy of Dawnlight Halls with the special Natya Veda boss (you can solo it if you have good gear, but otherwise get a squad).​​

    @syxz2 Check your questline description - there is a separate instance for the main questline to kill Natya Veda in a similar map, so that's the version you want. I believe it should have you talking to Althea to enter (?) that particular map, not "regular" Dawnlight Halls.

    this boss thing having the same name as instance boss so confusing! i'll try that, thanks for the help

    Had you entered the instance before? Maybe you had the daily quest and when you killed Natya it completed. Then you got a new one for that day.
