Yes, again there is some random person doing ''Phishing service'' on Etherblade.
I know this happens almost every year but since there is always ''smart ones'' who fall for it, here we go again:

If someone send you a private message asking for your pass or with a link to some fishy web.....

Don't be an idiot, don't Fall for it or you will lose your account :D

Been happening on Tideswell too for a while now.

They use characters with names similar to friends/alts and pm something about a brother's wedding and a website. It's usually aroud the same time period (before live support is available).

I have replied to one attempt in my pms. The other side didn't seem to be a bot. Or it's a really smart bot.

When they succeed in getting someone's information they change passwords, e-mail, and essencially lock you out of your account while selling what can be sold, NPCing things, and destroying equipment.

Every year? I've never noticed it stopping. This is a constant issue in almost every MMO I've played in the past 10 years.

Basically being part of the current generation of internet means you have to be constantly on the lookout for **** like this.

There are times when they stop and it feels like they just vanished from the game...and all of a sudden you see it happening again. I still wonder how people fall for it, I mean even assuming that it really was a friend and not an impersonation, do people see nothing wrong with logging on a site that asks for your account info..? fox-18.gif

    Report via ticket please.

SS and provide as much info as you can. The players can support each other with this.

I keep trying to smash out as many as possible that I hear about, but they seem to love coming back.

For everyone in general - always send in your tickets to Customer Support! I'll try to grab whatever I can, but I'm not always on 24/7. And if any other servers are running into these issues, please stay alert! Goes without saying- an employee will never ask for your password and will never redirect to to any unofficial sites. Also refrain from mentioning the exact site to players, but can warn them of what the site is doing (i.e. phishing).

Also, some of these people are trying to pose as other people's friends as well so if the name seems off, don't trust anything they send link wise and be sure to report it immediately as was mentioned earlier.

@heero200 Ahhh you sure? It says you squeaked ahead of me, ha!

But yeah, can't count how many of these little buggers I've had to get over the past few weeks. Perhaps its just becoming more reported, which is why we're seeing suddenly "everyone getting pished". The cheesy "help us help you" is actually kind of true in this case. What we don't know about can't be actioned on. So please, definitely reach out via tickets with exact information, SS etc. whenever this happens and let those around you know!

    HAHAHA yer may be.

cant you ask PWCN to get something a bot or something to check the mail sent to players and if it starts to look the same or one person is sending a stupid amount of mail in one day it red flags for a GM or (GA) to look into... Yer sorry I like passing more work on.

I know its going on and always report them its up to the community to help support this. Would be nice if their was a "Report Mail" button... again good luck and sorry LOL!

Doesn't hurt to tell once more. The bot that sends that "buy cheap coin" mail usually stands at the first mailbox in Celestial Vale. If you create a new character you'll get a mail very soon.

I've had my main for years, yet I still got the coin mail and never went to that town in celestial vale with it...

you dont need to go to the starter town for homestead questline

also, you dont need to go to celestial vale at all to receive mail from those bots. they have a list or something of all characters, though I were surprised how they could check so fast for newly made characters, but if they are in starter zone I guess that could explain it.

to me it seems like the same toon that scans the catshops and sends the info to the website has something to do with it...it wouldnt surprise me if while it scans the catshops, saves the names of any toon it encounters...again, is just a theory...

The toon scanning cat shops is for a website recording where items are.. and it's a good database for players to find items yet, these bots recording info are getting banned so the site isn't of much use... on a side note this site isn't secured and is run by some Russian dude so don't recommend using it
However someone could have stole a program like this one to send and record toons off and online... Since my inactive toon has a mailbox full of said mail even when it hasn't been played in over a year...

Inactive toons are most likely to be **** for inactive toons with missing items are less likely to be looked into... This mail system in some way is recording who's offline to target specific players. However the site they are linking to you is a keylogger on its own so please be careful.

I've been getting it a lot; have submitted tickets each time with every new account; the character always uses the same exact message in the PW Mailbox, so it's beyond me as to why something hasn't been setup to auto-catch the specific message and autoban the accounts. This isn't new. This isn't a one time occurrence. This isn't a single player being targeted. This isn't on one server. Hardly an isolated incident. Consider this my formal application for a tech position at PWE?

@kalystconquerer#0876 Wouldn't be a good Idea to send System message warning against it every few hours and ask to send ticket to support?. (many ppl may not use arc to see the forum), Or could prevent links changing it to *'s and blocking copy/paste.
