Windows 10 Compatibility Discussion

These issues most are talking about are from beta versions of Windows 10, so there's bound to be bugs here and there. The normal consumer versions of Windows 10 work fine, though.xskysoldier said:So many complaints about Windows 10..this makes me nervous to install it on my future pc. >,> Also on my current pc. xD Even though i play in window mode now.
I also wanted to say that I sent a ticket to PW, and they said that they thanked me for notifying this issue and that I should still try to deactivate unnecessary programs blah blah blah.
My part of the job is done, so I don't think I'll post here anymore heh, unless the issue is fixed someday.
EDIT : After I posted this, I tried redownloading the installer, and guess what : It worked !
Here's a little screenshot :
So the issue seems to have been fixed, I'll come back to you about that later.
EDIT 2 : So the launcher works, and PWI is downloading right now.Post edited by bsod38 on0 -
I will wait a little while longer to install it. My future pc has Nvidia graphics card and many people who install Windows 10, can't seem to update their graphics card. Although Sylen said to me you have to install the latest driver right after you install Windows 10. Question is, will it say i have to install the latest driver?0

Here's a little update, on the latest insider build (14271), the issue seems to have come back.
The launcher or the latest installer doesn't do anything. I'm too tired to make a new ticket right now so I'll make one later.0 -
Arc client doesnt open on Insider build 14372.
As you know this is the update before the aniversary one that will come on 2 of August.
Just giving a heads up to the team to fix0 -
Hey I am loving all this convo about the Windows 10/DirectX issues you guys are having. I have an ASUS Ultimate Gaming Laptop and love playing on it IF I COULD However, my issue is with my router. XFINITY reset it so I am now having to port forward everything in my house!!! (mad face) Anyone have a solution for opening ports that don't compromise your entire setup? Also my laptop uses NVidia which I don't think has caught up with Windows10 yet in terms of compatibility? Just a thought!0

And Sylen I miss playing or seeing you play on the Tideswell (former Raging Tides) server XD0

Arc client doesnt run on the official windows 10 update that released on August GZ pwi0
-
Yep. Updated yesterday and Arc no longer launches. The process appears for a bit but nothing appears on screen. Those with Pro version of 10 don't seem to be getting the update yet, but my Home machine did get it. Windows 10 Home users can't opt out of the update so I hope this gets fixed soon.0

Windows 10 Pro here got update as you see previous post
@sylenthunder @orinj @thenamesdomino when people started to pointing this problem company said that Insider Preview is a beta version and they arent suppose to give help for Beta versions. Now it's official release update from Microsoft and we have problem. It's a problem that must be solved really fast0 -
Still no update to Pro machine here. Microsoft releases the update in waves so in time more and more users are going to be affected by this.0
-
Everyone who buys a new pc has windows 10 preinstaled ready for the update.
the Evil corp. aka Microsoft hammers ARC (by Mr. Robot )0 -
And I thought it's just me. My Arc client doesn't work after anniversary update either. Hope this gets fixed soon.0

Same issue here. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no success.0 -
There is a new installer and patch now. Uninstall and download the installer again. Should work. Mine works now.0
-
i downloaded the arc from website it doesnt even start to be installed
can you provide the link that you used for it?0 -
Did you uninstall your previous install first? The installer won't do anything if you still have your previous install in. I just used http://www.arcgames.com/en/about/client0
-
yes working now, i had to do restart and then install the new one0

i just only done install this game..but have some problem, when i open arc and click play Pwi Arc pop up n suddenly Arc not working in the game.. anyone can help me why my game can't run on windows 10...0
-
im literally confused by this what im getting is i think your trying to run two pwi clients without one becoming in active? which i believe there is a way to run multis on separate screens with out using virtual machine and both active.
someone had posted a legal way to do this without breaking TOSS some kinda small edit in the short cut and a cmd in the game threw the ~ tab in the chat box but i forgot how was annoying because every time pwi updated the pwi short cut had to be re edited i think.
on the upside i could play both pwi in real time.
its on this forum the cmd comands and how to run two pwi active at same time they really should make it a sticky in technical support or legal pwi hacks like ini editing0 -

probably you see ARC Defender pop-up window asking you for a verification code.
Open your email and check your messages. You will have an email from the game with a 4 digit password. Copy these digits and paste them on the pop up window. Then you are fine to play the game.
If you are not refering to that and you just simply want something else, then just explain better the problem or provide some screenshots
for dual clienting just read this0 -
New Gaming Comp 5 weeks ago, with win 10 installed, been playing fine up until yesterday, arc wouldn't launch, "cannot connect to server" I run as admin its aloud in firewall/antivirus user acc settings are low, yesterday i uninstalled arc, reinstalled, it worked. same today, not launching, reinstalled, but still wont launch, and yes run the troubleshooter on arc.. "incompatible Program" is all it says0
-
You must be running one of the dev builds (fast or slow ring). I just installed in on a clean installation and updated it on W10 without any issues. I didn't even run it as administrator.
You can try compatibility modes, but if you are on the fast or slow ring, you will not likely get it installed.0 -
Have had to reset windows, but arc has launched and downloading game now0
-
i had the game installed and updated but the client wont open also tried to reinstall but installer do nothing, i will be back later to check if this got fixed, also i havent had any trouble in any other game or program i have needed, have a nice day...0

SylenThunder - Sanctuary wrote: »OK, just for starters, I've been using the Win10 Dev preview in a virtual machine since it was available. A few builds ago, the public release became stable enough that I decided to convert my main PC to it.
This thread is meant to be a discussion on our experiences, stability, and problems with playing the client on the new OS.
On previous builds, I didn't have much of an issue with the client running at all. Though to be honest, when I was using it in a VM, I never did run it in full screen mode. It was usually windowed at a resolution of 1600x900.
Since I moved my main PC to Win10, I've been playing the client in full-screen mode 1920x1080 without issue.
Right up until build 10041/10047 that is.
Now I am unable to run the client in full screen. Works just peachy in windowed mode, and I can fake full-screen by running it windowed at 1920x1080.
When putting the client into 1920x1080 full-screen mode, initially it sat there blinking as if the sync was set to a mode my display was not compatible with. Client was playable, as long as I didn't mind not being able to see anything in half-second intervals. That worked for about 30 seconds.
After playing with the settings between windowed and full mode, now I just get a black screen with the PWI cursor when it's in full screen mode. (Might be because I force-killed the v-sync option for the client from the Nvidia Control Panel, and haven't flipped it back to auto.)
I'm still tinkering with it and hope to find a resolution, but until then, 1920x1080 Windowed will work as a fine substitute. Win10 seems to co-operate nicely by not activating the taskbar when my mouse is at the bottom of the screen, and properly positioning the window in a "Windowed Full-Screen" type of mode.
Also, I've always had the client set to run as admin. Launching with Arc or without does not seem to make any difference, neither does playing with the compatibility view settings. Client runs pretty much the same on all of them, but with about a 2FPS increase when I'm not using one.
I'm pretty certain that the root cause of the issue is something MS messed up with the DirectX coding in the latest updates. Any help with finding a fix would be appreciated though. b:victory
Short specs:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz
RAM: 8GB DDR2 @ 400MHz
Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2048MB

Since I'm on a mini-vacation I'll be doing a lot further testing... Right after I get some work on the "Honey Do" list and finish the hardware migration for my game servers.
Update: After extensive testing, I have not found a working solution for true full-screen mode in Win10. The best method available is to run it in a pseudo full-screen mode. For simplicity for you guys, I'm including the .ini file for you to download.
You can download the file here, then replace the existing file in C:\Games\PWI_en\element\userdata\systemsettings.ini.
This file is set for 1920x1080 resolution. If your screen is a different resolution, change the setting inside the file to your screens resolution.

Need more information.
Also, I'm un-stickying the thread as the purpose of it has long past. The compatibility issues that initiated this thread have not existed for quite a while. Generally, it is now no harder to run Arc\PWI on 10 that it was on 7 or 8.0
