R8RR - transferring adds while upgrading

I'm having a go at upgrading the kit on my alt cleric. He has R8 Recast gear upon which I manged to get -chan adds on each piece. I figured I'g keep the -chan set and craft a new set to upgrade to R8 2nd recast. Upon attempting the upgrade on my first piece, I was given the option to transfer the current adds to the upgrade.

My question is, if I choose to transfer, do I end up with only those 3 adds, or do I get those three plus a 4th random one? Seems a shame to go through the upgrade process and end up with missing an add. Has anyone tried this before?

Yes, you will get only 3 adds on R8 4th cast if you keep the stats. And yes, it's a shame. And yes, it's just another reason why almost no one is going for it.
The only cool thing with 4th cast is the look of some of those weapons.
If you mainly care about stats, stick with 3rd cast. Because it's pretty damn cheap to reroll (for a maximum of defence levels).

Thanks. I figured as much, but held up the hope for the slim chance that I was wrong. It would have been awesome if you could select individual adds to keep. Also they really need to make a reroll option available using Dustfall Relics.

OK, I went back to the forge and tried to upgrade my fresh R8R torso (unrefined, junk adds). I was given the standard check boxes for transferring Refines, Sockets, Shards, and also Bonus Adds. Sockets and Shards require Chienkuns, so were forced NO. Refine was +0, so cost no stones whether YES or NO. Bonus Adds required no stones for either option. However, if I selected NO, after confirming I get a popup stating that "this gear has to inherit all attributes without any cost".

What gives? Does this work differently if you use the standard upgrade mats vs. the Dustfall Relics? Looks like I'm forced to transfer the bonus adds whether I want to or not.

You have to transfer the original stats when you first roll it into r8rr. You will then need to reroll using qsm mats to get the four adds.

gl getting people to run through r8rr qsm for rerolls.

sheesh everyone is so negative about QSM100+ first off. you will need to reroll your gear/weapon for the extra stat. however you can also keep your existing stats and just use spirit of the forge to preview each roll for dirt cheap to get the extra one. QSM isn't really that hard, i do a run every day.

500 songflow rings per reroll isn't bad, that's 5 days tops from just the qsm daily quest, not even counting the extra mats that get picked up. The rest of the mats can be gotten in heaven fall tower if you REALLY can't find people to run with.<.<

I mean honestly, your faction should be helping you with things like this.

It's not bad to run at all. It's literally my favorite dungeon in the game. But gathering people willing to help out is a pain in the ****.
