So I got mail "Cheap Gold" "Not a scam" Gamazon.ru...like I'm so stupid that I would go there! Yeah right. I got this same mail on ALL my alts on all my accounts and so did most of the people I talked too. How are they getting our info.? I mean some of my alts I don't even play much let alone world chat with them. So did PWI give the names to them or did they steal a list of the names of players off the servers somehow? And why is it that it's only after PWI has server problems that I get these mail spams on all my toons? Should people be worried that other info will be leaked? What about peoples banking info.? Is it safe or should people worry?

Did they receive in game mail? If so, nothing to worry about. Bots could scan nearby players regularly.

LMAO! pwi can't control bots - that's why we had coin value on DQ drops removed.
Never mind that most of us really needed those coins just to scrape by, let alone get ahead.
Then they remove coin value on pots that are dropped.
This has been a very sore spot since it happened.

You forgot about mirages, they took the coin value off those too. But in this case I'm more worried about bots targeting players for scams. Not everyone is smart enough not to fall of those "Cheap gold" scams.

I probably shouldn't say that xD but this particular site doesn't scam you in classical ways of scamming like trying to get your account info. They make their profit out of currency rate difference. But I don't advise you to use their service in any case. First of all, you can't learn all sites by heart and know who actually scams ppl and who uses indirect ways. Also bypassing official ways leads to PWE taking measures which eventually screws the playing community up.

the messages even appear on characters that were not logged in forever or in remote places. pretty sure they have access to the name server. #gorussia

There is a posibility they use char IDs to send with packets calls, but who knows, who knows... It is a bit expensive to do also, so you don't see it often.

I get the in game mail with the "cheap gold" thing anytime there is a mass dc. Also I've been blocking them but there is always a new toon so PWI telling me to block them is not helpful. I feel harrassed! It's annoying and PWI should put a stop to it. Block the whole f'en country if need be! (<--Trump moment, hee hee...)

this has happened for a long time on etherblade. though i think he gave up on the mail and started spamming common chat in west. Basically it doesnt matter that he gets banned, because i'm sure he's had several accounts banned by now, because i know of several people, including myself who have sent in reports about him, but he's probably using public internet access to avoid an IP ban, but he keeps coming back. The guy is just ridiculously desperate for cash. I tried blocking but there's not enough room on the BL to keep blocking him and there are other more annoying/egotistical trolls in wc that i would prefer to block. So i basically just delete the mail without even opening it. not much else any of us can do about it
